Expert NBA Fantasy Rankings & DFS Value Plays Today for DraftKings & FanDuel | 2/9/22

The NBA trade deadline is about 24 hours away. This morning seems oddly quiet, but a Woj bomb can change this slate at any given moment. Awesemo’s very own Josh Engleman will be following the NBA Trade Deadline LIVE, breaking down all of the Ben Simmons and James Harden trade rumors and all of the trades across the league on Thursday. Make sure to check the Awesemo NBA Starting Lineups page to see who is in and out tonight. This article will provide four players that are driven by Awesemo’s NBA DFS Rankings. Similar to last night, the Trail Blazers will be heavily involved on this slate.

DraftKings & FanDuel NBA Fantasy Rankings Today

*Grades are ordered DraftKings, FanDuel. The initial grade indicates a player’s strength of output, with the value grade indicating their strength as a play in relation to their salary.

PG LaMelo Ball — Grades: A, A | Values: B, A

One of the best plays according to our NBA DFS Rankings tonight is Hornets point guard and first-time All Star LaMelo Ball. It has been a struggle for Ball over the past three games. He is shooting just 34.1 percent from the field and has had at least six turnovers in two of those three games. The minutes are sporadic as Ball is kind of a reckless and sloppy defender. He has had five fouls in two of his last three games as well. However, his inconsistent play keeps his salary in check. Our boom/bust probability tool has Ball with the highest boom percentage on DraftKings and second-highest on FanDuel.

Not only is Ball a great play, but most of the Hornets starters will be popular tonight as they are showing up all over our ownership projections. They will be playing without Gordon Hayward for the foreseeable future, which is why the Hornets are popping so much on this slate. The matchup against the Bulls also features the highest game total on the slate at 236.5 points. There are so many options from the Hornets at different pricing tiers, but Ball has by far the highest upside. He has had over 60 DraftKings points in two of his last seven games. He is tough to ignore at this cheap price tag.

SF Justice Winslow — Grades: C, C | Values: A, A

The salary on Justice Winslow has risen quite a bit from yesterday, but he is still popping as one of the best value options on this slate. Winslow stuffed the stat sheet last night with 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. He finished with 32.3 DraftKings points as the Trail Blazers got whooped by the Magic 113-95 at home. They stay at home for this back-to-back, but will still be very short-handed. Winslow started the last game and played 35 minutes. Awesemo projects Winslow to be the best value play on both DraftKings and FanDuel tonight.

The Trail Blazers are once again heavy home underdogs against the Lakers. They have now lost 10 of their last 15 games after last night’s loss. This is a great spot to target the Trail Blazers as the Lakers play at the fourth-fastest pace and allow the fourth-most points in the league at 112.6 per game. Our ownership projections have Winslow leading the way on FanDuel, despite four Hornets right behind him. Make sure to check the starting lineups page in case one of these Trail Blazers acquisitions like Josh Hart plays. That may bump Winslow out of the starting rotation.

Latest NBA DFS Content

C Karl-Anthony Towns — Grades: A, A | Values: C, C

This matchup with the Timberwolves and Kings is a rematch of last night, where the Timberwolves won convincingly 134-114. They have won five-straight games and are nine-point road favorites tonight. Karl-Anthony Towns had a mediocre game of 25 points and nine rebounds. He only played 28 minutes due to the blowout and some foul trouble. However, this is still a matchup in which Towns should absolutely feast. The Kings allow the most points scored in the paint this season with 52.3 per game. They also rank 29th in defensive rating and eighth in pace. This game has the second-highest total on the slate at 234.5 points, as the Timberwolves are implied to score a slate-high 121.75 points.

Towns is under $10,000 on both DraftKings and FanDuel as Awesemo projects him to be the best value pay-up option on the slate. His ownership will likely be much lower than the Lakers trio who are playing against the Trail Blazers, which is also intriguing. Towns continues to lead the Timberwolves in points, rebounds and usage rate this season. He has also been fantastic over the last eight games, averaging a massive double-double with 24.5 points and 11.8 rebounds per game. During that time he has shot 55.2 percent from the field and 44.2 percent from behind the arc.

PG Coby White — Grades: C, C | Values: B, A

Similar to their opponent the Hornets, the Bulls have also been struggling lately as they have lost 10 of their last 16 games. The point guard position has been an unlucky one as many have left due to injury. It started with Lonzo Ball then went to Alex Caruso. Now Ayo Dosunmu is out tonight. Coby White will likely draw the start at point guard and play heavy minutes. Awesemo projects White to play 34.9 minutes, which will be the most he has played in over two weeks. He is a great way to differentiate lineups and get away from the Hornets and Trail Blazers chalk.

The Bulls are implied to score the second-most points on the slate at 119 as the Hornets present a fantastic matchup. They rank 24th in defensive rating and second in pace this season. They have allowed 114.2 points per game, which ranks as the third-most in the league. White is a cheap way to get exposure to the Bulls and their massive total. His usage rate will remain pretty low playing alongside Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic, but White is shooting a career-high from the field and behind the arc. He is a great bring-back in heavy Hornets builds.
