🏀 SuperDraft NBA Fantasy Picks for Monday, 3/22

Last Thursday we were all talking about how great it was to see LeBron James face off against LaMelo Ball. This week we are not talking about how great it will be to see either of them on the court again. The NBA can change in the blink of an eye, so let’s appreciate the stars we get to see on the court each night while we can. Here are the picks I recommend that you feature — and fade — in your NBA SuperDraft lineups this evening.

If you haven’t heard of SuperDraft, it’s an innovative new way to play DFS. Instead of using a salary cap, players receive multipliers that inversely correspond to their value. For example, Stephen Curry will come with a lower multiplier because he should play most of the game. In comparison, a rotational player like Jae Crowder will receive a higher multiplier to compensate for his limited minutes.

Top Five Low-Multiplier Plays

Using Awesemo’s SuperDraft NBA Projections and OddsShopper’s projected point totals, here are the top five high-value players for your NBA SuperDraft lineup. For a player to qualify, they must have a multiplier at or below 1.40x.

Khris Middleton (1.4x)

Middleton tops our projections for tonight’s slate. He will play in the game with the highest posted total (232.5) as the Bucks play the Pacers, who are on the wrong end of a back-to-back. Indiana had to go to overtime against the Heat, so they might be a bit gassed heading into this one. Oh, and Giannis will sit this one out.

Karl-Anthony Towns (1.1x)

The Timberwolves will play the Thunder tonight, and Oklahoma City remains pressed for depth with Al Horford still out tonight. Towns flashed his raw upside against the Suns just a few games ago, as he posted 41 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists in the upset win. He makes a great pick for this matchup.

Domantas Sabonis (1.25x)

Sabonis is one of Indiana’s fresher starters. He fouled out of yesterday’s game against the Heat after 35 minutes, and his multiplier and the total for this game combine to make him an attractive asset.

Jayson Tatum (1.2x)

The Celtics deliberately kept Tatum fresh for the second leg of their back-to-back. He played less than 30 minutes against the Magic, the lightest workload of Boston’s entire starting five, and he should see lots of run against the Grizzlies this evening.

Rudy Gobert (1.3x)

I like Gobert entirely because of his matchup. The Bulls have struggled against opposing centers of late; each starting center they have faced over the last four games has double-doubled. Look for Gobert to keep that streak alive this evening.

Top Five High-Multiplier Plays

I’ll also use Awesemo’s SuperDraft NBA Projections and OddsShopper’s projected point totals to identify the top five low-value players for tonight’s slate. For a player to qualify, they must have a multiplier at or above 1.60.

Ivica Zubac (1.8x)

Serge Ibaka will be on the shelf for a little while, so that thrusts Zubac into the starting lineup. Zubac has averaged 30-plus minutes through his three starts in place of Ibaka, and he has gone for double-digit points in all of those games.

P.J. Washington (1.6x)

The Hornets just lost Ball for the season, and they will have to adjust their lineup to compensate for his absence. That shorter rotation may mean more work for Washington. Our projections are in love with Washington on this slate, as he ranks seventh overall.

Bobby Portis (1.75x)

Portis is another value pick on this slate. The Bucks and Pacers should combine for a boatload of points, and with Giannis out, you can bet that Portis will see considerable minutes in garbage time. Portis ranks ninth overall in our rankings. However, it’s worth noting that he isn’t without risk — Portis hasn’t played more than 20 minutes in Milwaukee’s last three outings.

Donte DiVincenzo (1.6x)

DiVincenzo ranks 12th overall, and he should cash in on his high-scoring matchup. He double-doubled in his most recent appearance, and he has played 30-plus minutes in each of his last three games. That kind of workload is a steal at a multiplier this high.

Ricky Rubio (1.65x)

Towns and Anthony Edwards have gotten most of the hype in Minnesota, but don’t sleep on Rubio. He has double-doubled in two of his last three games, and he is averaging 12.8 points, 8.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game since the All-Star Break. Look for Rubio to continue his strong recent play and pay off his high multiplier.

Five SuperDraft NBA Fade Picks

Here are some players that players do our projections say you should avoid when building your NBA SuperDraft lineup.

Theo Maledon (1.75x)

Maledon only managed 12 points in 32 minutes yesterday against the Rockets, and Oklahoma City should get Shai Gilgeous-Alexander back for tonight’s game. That will leave him with even less work to do.

Lou Williams (1.6x)

Patrick Beverley remains out, but the Clippers haven’t turned to Williams much in Beverley’s absence. Williams last played 30 minutes in mid-February, long before Beverley’s injury, as the Clippers have preferred to use Reggie Jackson instead. This multiplier isn’t close to high enough to warrant picking Williams.

Wendell Carter (1.55x)

Carter has a bad matchup against Gobert tonight. Worse, he has played 20-plus minutes just twice since he got pulled from Chicago’s starting lineup on March 12. Carter has averaged just 8.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game since then, so leave him out of your NBA SuperDraft lineup.

Kevin Porter Jr. (1.35x)

Porter’s multiplier has shot up over the last few weeks, but his play over the last two games makes him not worth rostering. He hasn’t played more than 20 minutes over that stretch, and he failed to score more than 5 points in either game. While the Rockets may opt to rest some more of their starters this evening, I wouldn’t recommend starting Porter at this multiplier.

Kevin Huerter  (1.6x)

Huerter has a tough matchup with the Clippers this evening, and our rankings are out on him tonight. He has averaged just 9 points, 5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game over his last three outings. That isn’t enough production to justify a multiplier this high.
