Expert MLB DFS Advice: Keep Blue Jays-Heavy Day Going With Kevin Gausman (April 12)

It is another exciting split day of baseball, and there are six games on the main slate (beginning at 6:35 p.m. ET). In this MLB DFS breakdown, we will cover each game and highlight the players to target for your daily fantasy lineups. Let’s get started with potential MLB DFS value picks.

MLB DFS Value and Advice | April 12

Oakland Athletics (Waldichuk) vs. Baltimore Orioles (Kremer)

The Orioles are projected to be a popular stack against young pitcher Ken Waldichuk and the weak Oakland bullpen. Dean Kremer, on the other hand, offers value as a cheap SP2 option. However, with other stronger pitching options available, it may not be necessary to dip that low in salary. While the Athletics offer value as a stack, they are not a strong offense and their cheap price tags are driving up their ownership.

Boston Red Sox (Sale) vs. Tampa Bay Rays (Bradley)

This is an intriguing matchup of Chris Sale taking on the Rays, who have a strong lineup that can do a lot of damage. Sale is a cheap pitching option, but his command issues and recent struggles make him a risky choice. If Sale is not at his best, Tampa’s bats could do some serious damage. There is a lot of upside being overlooked in this matchup, with both Sale and the Rays bats being low-owned. The Red Sox are a decent stack against Taj Bradley in his debut, but the ballpark is not great for hitting and Tampa’s pitching staff is a tough matchup.

Detroit Tigers (Rodriguez) vs. Toronto Blue Jays (Gausman)

Kevin Gausman is one of the top pitchers on the slate in a favorable matchup against Detroit. The Blue Jays are projected to have the highest top stack percentage against Eduardo Rodriguez and are expected to have the third-highest aggregate ownership on DraftKings.

Cincinnati Reds (Greene) vs. Atlanta Braves (Strider)

Hunter Greene is a high-risk, high-reward pitcher who can pile up strikeouts, but he also allows hard contact and can get touched up by home runs. While there are some strikeouts to be had in the Braves lineup, there is also a lot of power. Greene is an inexpensive option at $6,900, but I like Braves bats in non-Greene lineups. Spencer Strider is the best pitching option on the slate and offers a solid option for DFS players.

Kansas City Royals (Keller) vs. Texas Rangers (Eovaldi)

Nathan Eovaldi is a decent SP2 option if one cannot get to one of the main three pitchers tonight, as the Royals have a modest 3.9 implied run total and Eovaldi can typically work deep into games. Brad Keller does not offer enough strikeout upside to be a target in DFS. The Rangers are in a decent spot against a pitcher that does not miss a lot of bats, but they will have a weaker than normal lineup tonight since Corey Seager left last night’s game with a lower-body injury.

Los Angeles Dodgers (Kershaw) vs. San Francisco Giants (Cobb)

Clayton Kershaw is one of the top three pitchers on the slate, along with Strider and Gausman, in a favorable pitcher’s park. While Kershaw may not be as dominant as he once was, he is still an excellent pitcher. Alex Cobb is a good pitcher as well, but the matchup with the Dodgers scares me away outside of the largest-field tournaments. While Cobb is good, I still like stacking the Dodgers at very little ownership because of their high ceiling when things go right for them.
