Kenny Pickett-Derek Carr DFS & Fantasy Football Rankings

Per our Stokastic expert projections, Kenny Pickett projects at 15.10 DraftKings points, with Derek Carr at just a 13.24 projected total. Because Carr ($10,400) has a higher price than Pickett ($9,200), we have the Steelers rookie quarterback listed as a much better value. Using our ownership projections, we see Carr owned at 53.4% ownership and being captained in 10.2% of lineups. Derek Carr has an ownership projection of 39.5% and is being captained in 5.8% of lineups.

Carr comes up far less often in optimal lineups in our simulations. However, there is positive leverage on Pickett, especially in the captain slot where he is optimal in 11.9% of our sims compared to that 10.2% ownership.

For year long fantasy leagues, our Stokastic weekly fantasy quarterback rankings have Kenny Pickett (No. 19 on the board) ranked ahead of Derek Carr (No. 24 on the board), as well.

Pickett has been showing signs of development throughout the year, and was coming off two straight wins before going down with a concussion during the Week 15 win over the Carolina Panthers. He was a full participant in practice this week, and will be fresh and ready to go for the date with the Raiders.

“I went through with the doctors and listened to what they said,” Pickett said via Steelers Now. “It comes with playing football. I was lucky throughout my career in college, really not having many concussions at all or experiencing what I’ve experienced these last two. But it happens. It’s football.”

Derek Carr has been a mediocre quarterback throughout the season, ranking as the No. 15 fantasy football quarterback. He completed just 20 of 38 passes for 231 yards, three touchdowns and an interception during the wild walk-off win over the New England Patriots in Week 15.

If you’re looking for the better value play in the Raiders-Steelers matchups on Saturday Night Football, we have Pickett listed as the best bet.
