Boise State vs. San Jose State: Boise State -6.5 (-110)

The value bettor in me had to do a double-take at this line before locking it in. These teams were supposed to play a regular season game just a few weeks ago, and Boise was favored by 11.5! I was on the Broncos in that game, and the play obviously voided, but I’m coming right back to them in the championship game.

San Jose State is 6-0 and 5-0-1 ATS, but what’s their best win? San Diego State as 10-point underdogs? Nevada in the last game? Boise has rolled through all its competition, except for a blowout loss to BYU. First of all, BYU is a fantastic team. Second of all, Boise was down to the third string QB.

The Broncos rolled through their other early schedule games, and while they failed to cover the last two, Hawaii backdoored them in a game that was out of hand in the fourth quarter. Boise also narrowly failed to cover at Wyoming, which is a difficult place to play.

Bottom line is I can’t pass up on this value. If Boise had San Jose’s schedule, it would be favored by double digits in this one.

Florida vs. Alabama: Alabama Team Total Ó45.5 (-106)

I think Alabama absolutely rolls in this game, but I’m not willing to leave the backdoor open for Florida, which can score. Personally, I am on Alabama -3.5 1Q and -8.5 1H, but both of those have moved throughout the week.

If there’s on thing I feel most confident about in this one, it’s ‘Bama’s ability to score. It’s scored 48 or more points in six of 10 games this season, and will need to score to stay ahead of Florida. The Gators are not good on defense, highlighted by the 37 they gave up to LSU last week.

When Alabama doesn’t score 50-plus, it’s because it doesn’t need to. They slowed up in a 42-13 win over Auburn and 41-0 win over Mississippi State. The other two unders were the season opener, maybe some rust against Missouri, and 41 against an elite Georgia defense. If the tide can drop 41 on Georgia, getting to 46-plus agains Florida shouldn’t be too tough. ‘Bama’s scored 52 or more in three of the last four.
