Edlow’s Edge: OddsShopper Week 8 Monday Night Football NFL Picks | Buccaneers vs Giants

The Buccaneers are looking to be in a pretty dominant spot on Monday Night Football, sitting as 12-point road favorites. While I’m not going to be backing a side at this number, I do think it’s a great game to use the Bucs as a teaser piece down to -6. So, if you have an NFL pick you want to tease on the Week 9 card, but were unsure what to pair it with, I think using the Bucs on Monday is a great answer.

As for betting the MNF game itself, it’s a nice looking game to turn to the props. Using the help of OddsShopper to locate the best plays and prices, let’s analyze some NFL picks.

NFL Picks & Predictions | Top Monday Night Football Bets

NFL Pick: New York Giants Team Total: UNDER 17 (-130)

This should be a mismatch, to say the least, with the worst offensive line in football (playing without a starter) going up against a lethal pass rush, and the NFL’s top overall defense. The Giants are averaging just over 17 points per game this season, but that number doesn’t exactly do justice. The Giants are averaging 25 points per game over the last three games, which have all been played against NFC East competition. Prior to that, New York was averaging a mere 11.75 points in its first four games. Daniel Jones has a four-game span this season without throwing a touchdown and has just five touchdown passes to seven interceptions on the season. Tampa has held three of its opponents to 17 or fewer points so far this season, including the Packers. The Bucs have 25 sacks on the season, and nine interceptions in their last six games. I’m expecting this one to get messy.

NFL Pick: Ronald Jones Rushing Yards: UNDER 61.5 (-106)

While you may think this is a good spot for Jones as the running back on a double-digit favorite, a deeper dive says you may want to be careful. Ronald Jones put up massive numbers in the three games Leonard Fournette missed, but in the four games they’ve both played, he averaged 44 yards on 12.5 carries. That includes just 34 yards last week against the Raiders, getting out-snapped 40-31 by Fournette. Jones is 3-1 to the under on this number in the four games he’s shared the backfield with Fournette, and the one over was back in Week 1 when Fournette was just signed. It’s a pretty lofty number against a Giants’ defense that ranks top five in yards per carry allowed at 3.7.

NFL Pick: Jason Pierre-Paul Sacks: OVER 0.5 (-148)

I mentioned the huge mismatch we have here, with the Bucs in position to dominate the Giants at the line. Tampa has racked up 25 sacks so far this season, with Jason Pierre-Paul leading the way at 5.5 (in seven games). The Giants have allowed 20 sacks on Jones, and have nearly no shot to keep him upright in this game. Fire up the revenge narrative for the former Giant pass rusher, who should be chasing Jones around all game.
