It is just James Harden’s second game with the Nets, but I think we’ve seen enough to say that this is a low number on his player prop for assists. Harden dazzled in his team debut on Saturday, posting a 32-12-14 triple-double against the Magic. Not to get too hung up on the production from one game, but Harden played 40 minutes with coaches and players he was familiar with, and the 14 assists proved it. Harden had even better getting the job done in Houston at this number, dishing out nine of more assists in four of his last five games with the Rockets and playing fewer minutes with little motivation.
The spot at home against the Bucks is perfect to target this player prop. We have a monster game total on the board, hanging around the 240 neighborhood, so we should see plenty of buckets in this game. With Kyrie Irving officially still out, we can delay the debate about who the primary ball handler will be — that job belongs to Harden in this one. Getting over 8.5 at -130 involves paying some juice, but it’s by far the best price on the board. The next best price is -157, and other books are starting to show 9.5 on the board.
