Ovechkin was held without a point and limited to just 10 shots in the three round-robin games, so he’ll be motivated to get on the scoresheet early in this series. We all know scoring isn’t an issue for Ovechkin, who tied for the league lead this season with 48 goals, but he needs to spark his offense again if Washington is going to advance past the Islanders.
Much like its superstar winger, Washington was unimpressive in the round robin to finish as the No. 3 seed and need a strong start against the Islanders. I don’t know if the Capitals can beat the Islanders in the series, but I expect Washington to come out and put its best foot forward in this game and slog its way to a victory.
Flyers AND Blues Win (+200 DraftKings)
I’m normally hesitant about parlays being boosted, but I’ll make an exception for this one. Philadelphia is the easier of the two winners to predict because the Flyers looked great in the round robin and are playing an offensively-challenged Canadiens team that used defense to advance. Montreal will struggle to score against Philadelphia’s aggressive defense, and the Flyers will be able to use their depth to solve Carey Price.
The question is whether or not the Blues can solve their woes against a gritty Canucks squad. St. Louis really struggled offensively in the round robin, but defensively, it looked stout in two of the three games. That defensive structure will spark the offense as the Blues frustrate Vancouver and open up the chances for them to score an ugly goal. The Canucks won’t be able to intimidate the Blues as easily as they were able to outgrit the Wild, and St. Louis shows up in the first game of the quarterfinals.

James Harden Scores 30+ Points (+100 PointsBet)
Harden has scored 30 or more points in three of the five Rockets games he’s played in in the bubble, and he’s a volume scorer. This game is vital for the Rockets as they look to hold onto the fourth seed in the Western Conference, so Harden will need to show up after having the night off yesterday.
The Pacers have only allowed 30 points to Joel Embiid and LeBron James during the restart, but Harden is the best scorer Indiana has faced so far. Thankfully, this wager doesn’t include the need for Houston to win or I’d have more reservations. But Harden scoring 30 points in a must-win game for the Rockets seems like a good bet to me.
