NBA Odds Boosts to Watch | Jamal Murray + Anthony Davis | September 22, 2020

Odds boosts are exactly that: Promotions from sportsbooks where they move tin your favor on certain bets. Many of them are prop bets, hoping you’ll put a few dollars on someone to hit a home run or a certain team to score a certain number of goals and still win. Our job is to highlight some of those odds boosts and give you some NBA picks to bet on, assuming it’s smart to buy into what the sportsbooks are selling. We scour the internet trying to find the best odds boosts for you every day from every sport.

The Denver Nuggets are trying to climb back into the Western Conference Finals tonight after falling behind 2-0 to the Los Angeles Lakers. Almost all of today’s odds boosts focus on the core quartet of players in this series: Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray from Denver, and Anthony Davis and LeBron James from the Lakers. All four will make an appearance in today’s list in some capacity as we try to find the best NBA odds boosts out there for tonight’s game. All of these odds boosts can be found on OddsShopper, so let’s dive into what we found on Awesemo’s odds comparison tool today.

NBA Odds Boosts + NBA Picks | Sept. 22

NBA Picks: Anthony Davis Makes 1.5+ 3-Pointers (+160 DraftKings)

We might as well start this list with a risky pick because Davis is not known for shooting the 3-pointer. He’s made one in just half of Los Angeles’ 12 playoffs games, and he’s had two games in which he hasn’t even attempted one. In the first two games of this series, he’s made three of seven shots from behind the arc, including the game-winner in Game 2. Denver might try to push Davis to the perimeter more in Game 3 by preventing him from getting comfortable near the basket, but that is still a tall ask.

During the regular season, Davis made just 33% of his 3-pointers, but that percentage rose to 40% in the postseason. He’s making an average of one 3-pointer per game in the playoffs, so he’s clearly not afraid to shoot the ball if he’s open on the perimeter.

NBA Picks: Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray Score 50+ Points Combined (+120 PointsBet)

Jokic has struggled with his rebounding, but the Lakers haven’t been able to slow down his scoring through two games. He had 21 points in the first three quarters of Game 1 then powered the Nuggets’ comeback attempts in Game 2 with 30 points. Jokic has been such a force in these playoffs that it’s almost expected he’ll score at least 20 points — and likely more — especially when his team is in the type of hole Denver is facing right now.

Murray is a different story because he’s been far streakier as a scorer in these playoffs. Yet he’s still scored 21 and 25 points, respectively, in the first two games, and he’ll be locked in for an important Game 3. What particularly encourages me is that Murray stayed confident in his shot in Game 2 despite making just two of his nine 3-point attempts. In three of the last four times he’s shot 25% or worse from behind the arc, he’s responded with at least 20 points, and he’s always made more 3-pointers than he did in the previous game under that scenario.

DraftKings is offering a very similar wager on tonight’s game, but it combines Murray with LeBron. The sportsbook is offering +110 boosted odds that James and Murray will score more than 52.5 points. James has scored at least 26 points in seven of the Lakers’ 12 postseason games, and he’ll be an easy secondary option if the Nuggets pay too much attention to slowing down Davis after he has had a pair of big games in this series.
