Coming off a strong win on Sunday Night Football, the Rams looked closer to their Super Bowl team from 2018 than they looked like the 2019 Rams. They were able to get the first win in SoFi Stadium. However, they hit the road this week.
The storyline from their Week 1 game was the running back by committee, which Sean McVay said all offseason he wanted to put into action. At the very least, this approach was successful for one game, as they rode the hot hand of Malcolm Brown, who found the end zone twice on the night. Despite facing a tough pass rush, the offensive line held their own and looked much better than last season, only giving up one sack on quarterback Jared Goff.
The Eagles, meanwhile, had a very different Week 1. For starters, there are fewer compliments to hand out to this offensive line. They gave up a whopping eight sacks, leading to many asking how many games Carson Wentz will even be able to start this season. All of these sacks ultimately led to blowing the 17-point lead, allowing Washington to score 27 unanswered points. This week, they expect to get Lane Johnson back on the line and Miles Sanders in the backfield, though the offensive line holes and receiver health are still areas of concern that will linger all season long.
This game likely comes down to pass protection. The quarterback with the cleanest pocket should be able to find success against the opposing team’s secondary.
