The Winning Element: RSM Classic PGA DFS Picks, Ownership & Rankings | Scottie Scheffler

All of the PGA DFS content and picks this week are geared toward providing information that will help with DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy golf and PGA odds and betting decisions in the best way possible. With the help of the Awesemo expert , this is the last of the week-long written PGA picks material for DraftKings and FanDuel at the RSM Classic.

PGA DFS Picks: RSM Classic

This column will include 6 to 12 players as part of my core, which earns my highest allocation on DFS and is matched with bets across the board. For the third consecutive week, none of my core favorites are competing at this event.

Weather

On Friday the weather could be a factor, with winds expected to be north of 20 mph. While tee times are not more than a couple of hours apart, it could lead to a course advantage, as the Plantation Course sits a tad more inland and is protected from higher winds.

Top PGA DFS Picks for DraftKings and FanDuel

These golfers will have anywhere between 20% and 50% allocation.

Scottie Scheffler ($10,900 DraftKings/$12,000 FanDuel)

An opening-round 72 was the reason Scheffler did not earn his first PGA Tour victory last week. Although, he did have the lead by himself for much of the final round last week before Jason Kokrak’s blazing back nine. Scheffler has done everything but win since joining the PGA Tour, shooting 59 in a playoff event, recording 15 top-10s and a Ryder Cup invitation, but he has not won yet. After back-to-back top-fives on his card and a top-five here in 2019, maybe this is finally the time for the breakthrough. The fact that he is the most expensive golfer in the field is not that concerning given that he is not as pricey as Sam Burns was last week, and this is a stronger field.

Scheffler was also popping in Awesemo’s PGA DFS lineup optimizer when running optimal lineups for cheat sheets. For more free daily fantasy golf picks for the RSM Classic, check out our DraftKings PGA cheat sheet and FanDuel PGA cheat sheet.

Alex Noren ($9,500 DraftKings/$10,800 FanDuel)

A staple on the European Tour, Noren will not be competing in that tour’s final tournament of the year. One of the reasons for that is he has dedicated a lot of his playing time to the PGA Tour. Now a full member, Noren has found a stride since missing the cut at the British Open, making eight straight cuts and finishing inside the top 30 six of those eight starts. He also has a good history at the RSM Classic, with back-to-back top-20 finishes.

Mito Pereira ($8,300 DraftKings/$9,900 FanDuel)

Pereira took the golf world by storm a few months back, earning the battlefield promotion by winning three times on the Korn Ferry Tour. After his first two tournaments, he went on a stretch where he came in the top six three straight weeks. He added another top-five to start this season at the Fortinet Championship, and the ownership started to follow again after that. He was even priced above countrymate Joaquin Niemann for an event. But after couple of poor putting weeks, ownership has dried up. However, a good course fit and lower ownership makes Pereira worth backing this week.

Brian Harman ($7,800 DraftKings/$9,800 FanDuel)

Ben Rasa was back on the air today for the PGA Strategy Show, and he had a great take regarding Harman: If blindly playing a golfer, it should be someone with at least some pedigree. Harman had a great year last season, missing just one cut between last year’s RSM Classic and the John Deere Classic. Over that span he racked up nine top-20s and three top-fives. He has had decent success around here as well, with a top-five and another top-15 in the last four years. All of this would be meaningless if his ownership were not projected at less than 5%, but it is, so blindly back him for the week.

Fellow Awesemo PGA writer Geoff Ulrich also has his sights set on Harman this week. Check out why Geoff is targeting Harman as a low-owned tournament option in his PGA Approach for the RSM Classic.

Aaron Rai ($7,400 DraftKings/$9,800 FanDuel)

While the sample size is still quite small for Rai, he tends to go on runs of form in both directions. Right now it seems that he is in the midst of a good run, with back-to-back top-20s in the last couple of weeks. His iron play last week was one of the best in the tournament, and he should find these greens to be much easier than last week, where he lost strokes to the field. If he cleans that up, he should be set up for his first top-10 on the PGA Tour.

PGA Picks Under or at $7,000

While none of these golfers are strong enough to earn 20% allocation, they are the three highest-owned golfers in my player pool under $7,000 this week.

Matthew NeSmith ($6,800 DraftKings/$8,200 FanDuel)

Backing a golfer after one solid round can be a tricky thing, as anyone can catch fire on the golf course at any given time. However, it also can be indicative of some form. Add in a few other caveats like back-to-back top-15s at this tournament, and Nesmith provides value below $7,000 this week.

Greyson Sigg ($6,700 DraftKings/$7,700 FanDuel)

While there have not been any true standouts from the Korn Ferry Tour this fall, Sigg has been one of the few golfers to make at least three cuts and come in the top 30 in two of them. He also gets the benefit of playing at home this week, which should give a rookie a little extra comfort.

Nick Hardy ($6,500 DraftKings/$7,600 FanDuel)

A terrible opening round in Bermuda prevented Hardy from making this third straight cut to the start the season, with each of the first two showcasing solid statistical measures. Now at his cheapest price of the fall, in arguably the weakest field he is played against, and it seems like an ideal time to add quite a few shares this week.
