On a typical showdown contest, DraftKings will offer upwards of $50,000 to first for rounds 2 and 3 showdown and sometimes up to $100,000 for the final-round contests. They also provide weekend-long contests that have been offering $25,000 to first for most weekends. Lastly, FanDuel has also tried to get into the weekend-long and final round contests, offering $10,000 and $5,000 to first.

Previous Round Commentary

The wind may have picked up a bit from yesterday’s round, but that didn’t stop the leaders from doubling their score and adding plenty of PGA DFS points. Richy Weresnki, & Micheal Thompson out early in the morning got it to 12 under, and wouldn’t be caught all day. Tony Finau & Talor Gooch gave it their best run in the afternoon, but neither could get to 12 under, sitting just one back heading in the weekend. Defending champion of the event, Matthew Wolff went around in a bogey-free 69 today, and sits only three back, with Xinjun Zhang separating Wolff, & Cameron Davis from the top 5.

The rounds of the day were turned in by Scott Stallings, Brian Harman, & Harrish English, all shooting a seven-under 64 on Friday. *correction English made bogey on his 18th hole of the day pushing him back to six under for the day.

The Expected Weather for Tomorrow’s Round

It looks like there is some weather expected to come in for the afternoon hours, so they’ve decided to go to a two tee threesome start early on. Conditions will be very similar to today.

There were a few bogey-free rounds out there today, including Matthew Wolff, & Talor Gooch.

  3. Tim Wilkinson (7)
  4. Patrick Rodgers (6)

Strokes Gained Ball Striking vs. Putting

Tony Finau has struck the ball superbly this week and hasn’t even putted that bad, still, a five-stroke differential between the two stats, as he leads this category. Matthias Schwab & Dylan Frittelli seem to be in good ball-striking form as well, but both can’t find their putters yet, with Schwab gaining four more strokes ball striking, and Dylan 3.65. Danny Lee & Kyle Stanley round out the top 5.

Slate Strategy

There could have been a slight weather edge had the tour done normal tee times, but with the tour starting everyone within a two-hour window, there isn’t much edge there in terms of weather. Guys at six and seven under are also good targets to make a big move up the leaderboard tomorrow.

Top 10 Breakdown & PGA DFS Pick

Tony Finau doesn’t have Jon Rahm, or an extremely difficult golf course to contend with this week, just a one-shot differential between him and first. This has got to be the week, right?! Richy Werenski & Micheal Thompson will also enter the weekend with their best chance at a win on tour, with not many other big names lurking. Matthew Wolff is there at nine-under, but in terms of DraftKings price, the next golfer over 8K is Patrick Rodgers. Then Harris English & Dylan Frittelli sit just outside the top 10 heading into the weekend. Today, Wolff was close to 40% owned, and Finau roughly the same. I expect that to be way higher this whole weekend given the fact that almost all the big names are gone except them two and Harris English.

Cameron Davis ($7,300)

With absolutely no cut line worry this week, Davis finally broke though and has himself in contention heading into the weekend. He’s done it with a superb tee to green play, and a decent putter. That’s a pretty good recipe for success when you hit it as long as he does. I

PGA DFS Stud or Value Pick Outside of Top 10

Dylan Frittelli ($8,100)

In something I rarely do, I’m keeping this pick here for the third round. He popped off in round tee to green, marking this the second straight year he’s found his way nicely around this course. We need him to make a couple of more putts than he did today,

Sneaky Pick Outside of Top 10

Robby Shelton ($6,500)

It’s been a long while since Shelton’s been playable, but finally earning a paycheck and seeing a weekend hast o help the confidence. Plus, he’s gaining, on average, 2.25 strokes tee to green, doing it almost equally between the two rounds. He hasn’t played enough for him to be on most people’s radar yet, so he should still be pretty low owned for tomorrow’s third round.

Lineup Fill-Ins

Si Woo Kim ($7,600)

Matthias Schwab ($7,200)

Charles Howell III ($7,500)

Alex Noren ($7,900)
