Rookie running backs always draw the most excitement entering fantasy drafts. Throughout the offseason, there has been no shortage of people clamoring for Javonte Williams. The question is, can he live up to the fantasy football hype, or will he fail to amount to the expectations many have put on him? We will look into his college production and figure out how he will finish in 2021 and where he will go in a fantasy football draft.

Williams College Production
In college Williams certainly lived up to his NFL Draft capital. He had 157 rushing attempts for 1,140 yards and 19 touchdowns, plus another 305 yards three touchdowns receiving. And all that came while splitting the backfield with Michael Carter.
Williams Fantasy Outlook in 2021
It is easy to get enamored with Williams’ preseason performances. In both games Williams looked exactly like the running back that the Broncos were expecting when they drafted him in the second round. With that said, there was a key piece missing in these preseason games: Melvin Gordon IIi. Gordon is going to be heavily involved in Denver’s offense, and Vic Fangio loves using a two-headed backfield. This idea is further cemented by Gordon being on last year of his contract, so the team may elect to run him into the dirt and give Williams the feature role next year. With all that said, Williams will likely be a bust at his current ADP.
