Saturday has nine games in the afternoon and six more at night on the MLB DFS slate. Tonight’s top game features Joe Musgrove taking the mound for the San Diego Padres as they host the Philadelphia Phillies. Let’s dive into the top Monkey Knife Fight MLB DFS plays and MLB picks today on Aug. 20.
Tonight’s Top Monkey Knife Fight MLB DFS Picks
Monkey Knife Fight has a ton of profitable contests for the public, and here we will break down the two best areas from which to make MLB picks.
More or Less | Pick: 2, Prize: 3x
Aaron Nola vs. Joe Musgrove
Nola has not been great on the road, accumulating a 5.56 ERA compared to 3.32 at Citizens Bank Park. For tonight’s barometer of 6.5 strikeouts, the home-road splits come into play as well. On the road, Nola only has a 9.82 K/9 compared to 12.05 at home. Tonight’s matchup against the Padres will certainly be difficult, as they own the third-lowest K-rate (21.5%) against right-handed pitching.
Speaking of splits, Musgrove has been strong at home with a 2.43 ERA this season. His last start was an absolute disaster, allowing 10 hits and six runs across five innings; but it did come on the road. It’s certainly worth noting that Musgrove’s last 12 innings at Petco Park have produced a total of 19 strikeouts. Now that he’s back home, Musgrove will face a Phillies squad that ranks right around league-average in K-rate (23.1%) against right-handed pitching.
Rapidfire (Fantasy Points) | Pick: 4, Prize: 9x
Freddie Freeman vs. Trey Mancini
Freeman is the much hotter hitter of late, slashing .357/.426/.667 over the last 10 games. Mancini, on the other hand, is struggling a great deal over the same span, only hitting .205.
Adam Duvall vs. Ozzie Albies
This matchup of two Braves is an easy one. Albies has crushed Orioles right-hander Matt Harvey over his career, going 4-for-7 with a double and home run. Duvall has really struggled against Harvey, going 1-for-11 with three strikeouts.
Austin Riley vs. Jorge Soler
In another matchup of two Braves, neither one has ever faced Harvey. However, Riley is the hotter hitter currently, slashing .357/.426/.6434 over the last 10 games. Within that same span, Soler is only hitting .184.
Travis D’Arnaud vs. Dansby Swanson
D’Arnaud actually used to catch Harvey when the two were together in New York. That should give D’Arnaud an advantage, and Swanson is only 2-for-13 against Harvey lifetime.
