College Football Week 2 DFS Picks & Projections for Murray State-Louisville | Thursday, September 7

College football Week 2 kicks off with a single-game Thursday slate. CFB DFS differs from traditional NFL DFS in a few key areas. Rosters do not require a defense and instead incorporate a superflex where a second quarterback can be rostered. With the exception of short slates, using a second quarterback generally makes the most sense. From there, traditional stacking rules and other general football DFS strategies apply (such as looking at college football ownership projections). With that said, let’s dive into our CFB Week 2 Murray State-Louisville DFS picks, projections and more.

CFB Week 2 DFS Picks and Projections

Quarterback

D.J. Williams ($9,600): Murray State dismantled Presbyterian 41-10 in Week 1. They used three quarterbacks, but DJ Williams should be a full-time starter. Williams got hurt immediately last year, but he rushed for 532 yards on 83 attempts in 2021. His passing numbers leave much to be desired, but his rushing gives him a solid floor as a contrarian option.

Jack Plummer ($11,400): Jack Plummer should come in as the highest-owned player on this slate. He threw 31 times in a 39-34 victory over Georgia Tech in Week 1, accounting for 247 yards. Plummer also turned in 51 rushing yards, which he had not shown before in his career. Plus, he has familiarity with new Louisville coach Jeff Brohm. Louisville only passed 47% of the time in Week 1, but Purdue passed 58% of the time last year under Brohm. Louisville is a 41.5-point favorite, so passing may not be needed. However, Plummer brings an excellent floor.

Running Back

Jawhar Jordan ($10,000): Louisville used a full-blown committee at running back in Week 1. Jawhar Jordan played 24 snaps and touched the ball eight times. Isaac Guerendo ($4,000) played 21 snaps with seven touches, while Maurice Turner ($7,600) played 22 snaps with seven touches. Routes were split almost evenly between the three as well, making Guerendo the top price-adjusted play.

Jawaun Northington ($1,400): Murray State went full-blown running back by committee between Jawaun Northington, Kywon Morgan ($1,000), and Q’Daryius Jennings ($7,200) in Week 1. Jennings started, but all three backs played between 18 and 22 snaps. Northington led the group with 11 touches, making him the top dart throw of the group.

Wide Receiver

Jamari Thrash ($9,200): Georgia State transfer Jamari Thrash led Louisville with a 94% route share, nine targets and 88 receiving yards in Week 1. He should operate as the clear WR1 and has captain viability.

Kevin Coleman ($6,600): Behind Thrash, Kevin Coleman and Ahmari Huggins-Bruce ($8,600) logged 54% and 51% route shares. Coleman is the cheaper option and better price-adjusted play between the two.

Taylor Shields ($8,000): Like the other offensive positions, Murray State rotated receivers. Taylor Shields led this group with a 73% route share and 69 receiving yards. Jacob Bell ($2,000) and Cole Rusk ($1,200) were the next two most active pass catchers, with a 58% route share apiece.
