CFB Week 7 DFS Picks, Projections and More | Friday, October 13

CFB DFS differs from traditional NFL DFS in a few key areas. Rosters do not require a defense and instead incorporate a superflex where a second quarterback can be rostered. With the exception of short slates, using a second quarterback generally makes the most sense. From there, traditional stacking rules and other general football DFS strategies apply (such as looking at college football ownership projections). With that said, let’s get into the CFB Week 7 DFS picks and projections for Friday, Oct. 13.

CFB Week 7 DFS Picks and Projections | Friday, Oct. 13

Quarterback

Seth Henigan ($7,500): Memphis enters Week 7 as a five-point underdog to Tulane in a game with a 55 total. The Tigers rank 62nd in pace and pass 52.1% of the time. This offense has propelled Henigan to 275.2 passing yards per game on 34.8 attempts. Henigan also has strong dual-threat ability with 132 cumulative rushing yards to date. While Tulane’s defense has been strong, Henigan’s volume keeps him among the strongest CFB DFS plays on the slate.

Michael Pratt ($7,800): A slight underdog here, Michael Pratt and the Tulane offense picked up right where they left off with some monster DFS performances. Tulane only ranks 109th in pace and throws the ball 39.5% of the time. However, Pratt has been hyper-efficient on just 20.3 attempts per game. Overall, Pratt averages 222.3 passing yards per game, but his 112 cumulative rushing yards give him an excellent floor.

Shedeur Sanders ($9,500): Colorado enters Week 7 as an 11.5-point favorite over Stanford in a game with a 59.5 total. While expensive, Shedeur Sanders benefits from a Colorado offense ranked fifth in pace, throwing the ball 60% of the time. Sanders takes plenty of sacks, racking up -60 cumulative yards this year. However, Stanford has a weak pass rush and Sanders still averages 336.5 passing yards per game. More likely than any other signal caller to reach a 300-yard bonus, Sanders makes sense as a pay-up option.

Cooper Legas ($5,300): Despite coming in as a four-point underdog, Utah State still ranks seventh in pace and throws the ball 54.7% of the time. McCae Hillstead is doubtful here, putting Week 1 starter Cooper Legas back into play for DFS. Legas actually has decent passing efficiency and solid dual-threat ability. With the offense unlikely to take a major step back, this offense should push Legas towards DFS relevance in Week 7.

Running Back

Blake Watson ($7,000): The top overall Week 7 Friday night slate, Blake Watson averages 91.6 rushing and 46.2 receiving yards per game on 20.4 touches. Watson has seen at least 16 touches in each of the last four games, eclipsing 20 in three of those contests. Even against a tough Tulane defense, Watson’s volume stands out on this CFB DFS slate.

Makhi Hughes ($5,500): Taking over the Tulane backfield Makhi Hughes touched the ball 23 times last game. While he only averages 15 touches per game, Hughes has received an ascending role, which includes more pass game work. Memphis allows 4.8 yards per carry to opposing rushers, giving Hughes one of the best matchups on the slate.

Elijah Gilliam ($5,600): Fresno State enters Week 7 as a four-point favorite over Utah State ina game with a 57 total. On top of Mikey Keene suffering an injury, Malik Sherrod also aggravated a pre-existing lower body injury. With Sherrod previously sidelined this season, Elijah Gilliam handled a feature-back role. While this situation depends on late news, Gilliam could emerge as one of the top price-adjusted options on this slate, if Sherrod sits.

Robert Briggs Jr. ($4,400): The Utah State backfield has become a committee with Davon Booth and Robert Briggs Jr. sharing lead back duties, while Rahsul Faison handles change of pace work. Last week, this led to 15 touches for Booth and 19 touches for Briggs. With Legas under center, Utah State may opt to run the ball more. Together, this makes Briggs a solid salary saver at the position.

Wide Receiver

Xavier Weaver ($6,900): Even with Travis Hunter projected to return, Xavier Weaver stands out as Colorado’s top pass catcher. On the year, Weaver averages 84.5 yards per game on 10.0 targets. Jimmy Horn also comes in as a strong play, averaging 62.5 yards per game on 7.0 targets. Ultimately, any of Weaver, Horn, and Hunter make for strong stacking options with Sanders. Even tight end Michael Harrison and WR4 Omarion Miller can be used as GPP options.

Lawrence Keys III ($5,700): Tulane uses a fairly condensed receiver rotation, highlighted by Notre Dame transfer Lawrence Keys III. So far this year, Keys averages 79.8 yards per game on 6.2  targets and a 26.1% target share. Behind him, Jha’Quan Jackson and Chris Brazzell II makes sense as slightly less involved GPP pivots.

Jalen Royals ($6,000): While Terrell Vaughns operates as the top receiver for Utah State with 10.3 targets per game, Jalen Royals isn’t far behind at 7.3. In fact, Royals leads the team with 521 receiving yards, while Vaughns checks in at 490. Both are solid plays in this matchup, but Royals grades out better from a price-adjusted perspective.

Roc Taylor ($5,600): The top receiving option for Henigan, Roc Taylor averages 79.8 yards per game on 7.2 targets. Overall, Taylor has a 21% target share and an 80% route share. Behind him, DeMeer Blankumsee also comes in as a strong-price adjusted play at 6.4 targets per game. The rest of the group rotates between Koby Drake, Joseph Scates, and tight end Anthony Landphere.

Mac Dalena ($4,000): Fresno State recently shook up their receiver rotation, reducing Erik Brooks to 36% of the routes last week. Behind Jalen Moss‘s 92% route share in Week 6, Mac Dalena ranked second at 78%. While the switch to Logan Fife as quarterback remains a concern, Dalena should function as a salary saver on this slate.
