College Football Week 1 DFS Picks, Projections and More | Saturday, September 2

College football Week 1 continues with a 14-game Saturday slate. CFB DFS differs from traditional NFL DFS in a few key areas. Rosters do not require a defense and instead incorporate a Super-Flex where a second quarterback can be rostered. With the exception of short slates, using a second quarterback generally makes the most sense. From there, traditional stacking rules and other general football DFS strategies apply (such as looking at college football ownership projections). With that said, let’s dive into our CFB Week 1 DFS picks, projections and more.

CFB Week 1 DFS Picks and Projections

Quarterback

Chandler Morris($6,900) – The starting TCU signal caller, Chandler Morris comes in as the top price-adjusted quarterback on the slate. TCU sits as a 20.5-point favorite over Colorado in a game with a 63 point total. Morris possesses excellent mobility and faces a Colorado defense rebuild through the transfer portal. He can be stacked or played alone today.

Michael Penix ($8,400) – Washington is a 14 point favorite over Boise State in a game with a 58.5-point total. With a spread this close, Penix should receive a full game worth of snaps. Penix averaged 357 passing yards per game last year, while chipping in a little bit on the ground.

Joe Milton ($8,700) – Tennessee is a 28 point favorite over Virginia, giving the Volunteers one of the highest implied team totals on the slate. Joe Milton takes over for Hendon Hooker in this high-powered Tennessee offense. He passed for 251 yards in the bowl game against Clemson last year and provides some mobility as well.

Running Back

Braelon Allen ($6,900) – Running backs come in underpriced across the board, and Wisconsin’s Braelon Allen highlights this list. Allen has back-to-back 1,200 yards seasons with double digit rushing touchdowns. Wisconsin is a 28-point favorite over Buffalo.

Bucky Irving ($6,100) – Oregon projects to come in as a massive favorite over Portland State. Bucky Irving turned in a 1,058 yard season with Oregon last year, while catching 31 balls.

Quinshon Judkins ($6,600) – Like Oregon, Ole Miss will be an enormous favorite over Mercer today. Sophomore phenom Quinshon Judkins rushed for 1,567 yards and 16 scores last year, while catching 15 passes.

Tawee Walker ($3,700) – Listed as a co-starter on Oklahoma’s depth chart, Tawee Walker provides salary relief at the running back position. Oklahoma is a 36-point favorite over Arkansas State, which should give Walker ample opportunity.

Wide Receiver

Barion Brown($5,500) – Kentucky is a 26.5 point favorite over Ball State and the Wildcats welcome back 2021 offensive coordinator Lian Coen. Brown led the team with 628 yards on 50 catches as a true freshman last year.

Bru McCoy ($4,800) – With Jalin Hyatt and Cedric Tillman out of the picture, Bru McCoy sits atop Tennessee’s receiver depth chart. Last year, he finished as the team’s second-leading receiver with 667 yards on 52 receptions.

Rome Odunze ($7,300) – The premier stacking option for Penix, Rome Odunze caught 75 balls for 1,145 yards and seven scores last year.
