PGA DFS News: Jordan Spieth Withdraws From AT&T Byron Nelson, Scottie Scheffler Now Miles Ahead of Field (May 11)

To say that Jordan Spieth failed to live of up to expectations at last week’s Wells Fargo Championship is an understatement. Spieth shot a lowly +7, missing the cut and crushing the lineups for the 18.5% of the field that rostered him in DraftKings flagship PGA DFS tournament. Luckily that won’t happen two weeks in a row after Spieth announced via Twitter that he would be withdrawing from the AT& Byron Nelson. His absence leaves a huge gap in price, and in talent, between Scottie Scheffler at $11.9k and the rest of the golfers in this week’s field.

Stokastic’s ownership and fantasy point projections have yet to be released, but the models will certainly shift in reaction to the news. If you’re looking to build high upside PGA DFS lineups in just a few steps, the new PGA Lineup Generator tool is the way to go. It integrates Stokastic’s industry leading projections to create the type of lineups the pros use with just a few clicks.

PGA DFS News: Spieth Withdraws From AT&T Byron Nelson

Fans and DFS players no longer have to wonder what caused Jordan Spieth’s meltdown last week. His announcement on Twitter revealed that he is suffering an elbow injury that will have him sidelined.

Spieth was the second highest priced golfer in this week’s field. He was expected to capture quite a bit of ownership with his odds to win the tournament being much higher than the only other golfer in his price range, Tyrell Hatton. Now, Hatton remains the only $10k plus golfer in the PGA DFS player pool on DraftKings. Players will have even tougher roster decisions now, and a similar situation to the Mexico Open on April 27th when Jon Rahm dwarfed the field in terms of salary and talent.

The highest priced golfer is now Scottie Scheffler who stands at an almost $2,000 price gap above Hatton. It’s a gap that will make roster construction tricky, and all the more reason to rely on optimizers or expert tools like Stokastic’s Lineup Generator.

The situation also creates long-term speculation for the coming weeks. DraftKings continues to push their golf DFS product and has already posted two more Millionaire Makers for the PGA Championship on May 18th. The huge prize pools come at two different buy-in prices, one a large-field “flagship” GPP with a $25 entry fee and over 142,000 entries. The second is a high-stakes $4,444 buy-in with a field of 568 entries. DraftKings also ran a Millionaire Maker for the RBC Heritage and three for The Masters.

Stokastic will have expert analysis throughout the week, including top value plays, sleepers and other PGA DFS content using the top ownership and fantasy point projections in the industry. Don’t forget to check them out to get a leg-up on the competition, or construct a high-ROI portfolio using Lineup Generator.
