Week 13 of the NFL is here and it’s another week filled with scheduling changes. We had no Thursday Night game and now have two Monday Night Football games, plus a Tuesday Night game to round out the week. For NFL Survivor picks, we have to keep an eye on the COVID situation as we saw last week when Denver was forced to play without quarterbacks. Those situations can make a huge difference, and this late in the Survivor pool season, we cannot overlook any edge that develops. Let’s get into who is making the shortlist this week, which is headlined by the Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks.
What is a Survivor Pool?
There are several variations of the Survivor Pool format, but the most basic and common one is each week everyone in the pool has to select one team to win a game straight up, not against the spread. If the team wins, you survive the week and move on, and if the team you pick ties or loses, you are eliminated from the pool. The twist is that you can only use any team once, so anyone you pick is no longer available for weeks in the future, making it increasingly difficult as the season goes on. The pool ends when there is one player left, and usually that player will take home a big pay day depending on the pool and the structure.

Week 12 NFL Survivor Picks Recap
Browns
Cleveland was 31% owned in Yahoo leagues, as the Jaguars have become a top target to pick on. Despite a 27-25 victory, which was a little too close for comfort, Cleveland got the job done, and in survivor that is all that matters. Jacksonville rolled out another new quarterback in Mike Glennon, and they seem more focused on trying to get the No. 1 pick in the draft. The Jaguars still have a lone win on the season, which came in Week 1, so they will continue to be targeted.
Seahawks
Thirteen percent went to the Monday Night game between the Seahawks and Eagles, as Philadelphia has struggled throughout the year despite being in the playoff hunt. It was more of the same from a team that cannot protect Carson Wentz, and he had some key mistakes down the stretch. The Seahawks didn’t look overly sharp, but similar to Cleveland, they got the job done in a week that didn’t have many obvious spots.
Dolphins
Even though they were playing the Jets, only 8% of teams chose the Dolphins last week. That isn’t because the matchup was poor; it was that most people already used Miami earlier in the year. Add in that the Saints suddenly rose in ownership due to Denver’s COVID situation, and that added to the low ownership on this Miami team. Like everyone who plays the Jets, they were able to get the win, and it is hard to imagine anyone has the Dolphins left after last week.

Week 13 NFL Survivor Pool Picks
Raiders
Las Vegas was humiliated in Week 12 against the Falcons, losing 43-6 in a game they really could have used. They now get the ultimate bounce-back spot with the Jets on deck, and they absolutely cannot slip up here. The Raiders are 8.5-point road favorites, and they haven’t had a ton of opportunities to be used in survivor before this week. That is going to result in significant ownership here, but it is hard to ignore any team that gets the winless Jets.
Vikings
It’s the same story once again in Week 13, as the Jets and Jaguars are going to be picked on. Minnesota a 10-point favorite at home, and if they want any chance of finding the postseason, this is a game they need to win. Dalvin Cook is good to go despite being banged up, and he should be in line for another massive workload against a Jaguars defense that struggles across the board.
Seahawks
Similar to Miami, Seattle made sense in several weeks, so many people have already used them. If you do have them available, then we have to consider them as a 10-point favorite at home here against the Giants. They would have been a sizeable favorite regardless, but now it looks like Colt McCoy will be under center for New York with Daniel Jones‘ hamstring issue. That makes this an even better spot to attack, and it is hard to imagine Seattle dropping a game they need at home against this squad.
My Week 13 NFL Survivor Pool Pick: Raiders
Teams I’ve already used: Colts (L), Buccaneers (W), Eagles (T), Rams (W), Cowboys (W), Dolphins (W), Chargers (W), Chiefs (W), Steelers (W), Packers (W), Vikings (L), Browns (W)
This late in the season, it’s a rare opportunity to get the matchup you wanted if you had every team available. The Raiders, coming off a complete embarrassment, draw the Jets, and despite being on the road, they are still north of a touchdown favorite. They need this game to stay in the playoff hunt, and we know they are talented considering they nearly swept the Chiefs this year. On the other side, the Jets seem to be getting even worse. If they are going to be running Frank Gore 15 times each week, I will take my chances picking on them once again.
