The NBA playoffs are underway, and these first-round matchups haven’t disappointed. The series now flip venues, with the underdog teams heading home looking to hold serve in their building. With fewer games, there are more opportunities to really dig into each series and find some value in the betting market.
NBA Prop Bet: Giannis Antetokounmpo Over 28.5 Points (-106)
Milwaukee has been able to win both games at home (unlike last year), putting all the pressure on Miami tonight. This game is viewed a toss-up, with the Bucks a 1-point road favorite. For this game, the best NBA player prop of the night is Giannis Antetokounmpo’s points total at 28.5. Despite the talent the Heat have and the success they’ve had at times defending Giannis, the over looks better here.
Just two games into the series, Giannis and the Bucks look worlds better than what they offered last year in the bubble. Giannis is dominating in the paint and on the glass with 31 rebounds through the first two games. His minutes and shooting volume are going to be there. Through two games Giannis is averaging 28.5 points, even while not shooting well at all. He is 12-for-20 from the line, which is below average, and a dismal 1-for-10 from behind the arc. Neither of those really need to change in order to clear this prop, but any improvement in those areas will be huge bonuses onto the damage he should do at the rim.

Despite Milwaukee looking superior in these opening two games, Miami should not go down quietly tonight. This is expected to remain close, and that should have Giannis on the floor until the very end. After a 34-point blowout in Game 2 where Giannis played only 31 minutes, he should return to the high 30s tonight and could even exceed that in the right circumstances. Going over 28.5 points tonight is the move, and given that it’s a slight underdog at -106 at a few sportsbooks, this is the right price to lock in.
