NBA Odds + NBA Picks to Win Sixth Man of the Year

Dennis Schroder Sixth Man of the Year Odds

After a slow start to the season, Schroder has really found his footing since the new year hit, playing behind Chris Paul. Since January, Schroder has averaged 19.7 points, 4.4 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game. He has a 27.2 % usage rate, showing he is often the leader of the second unit.

Despite the NBA advising individual awards be based on the play before the shutdown, Schroder has the best chance to extend his lead in the odds and further cement himself as the 2020 Sixth Man of the Year, with the NBA restart down in Orlando. The two players that could push him for the award play on the same team, so their chances of big performances are less, with Schroder having little competition off the bench with the Thunder.

There is one thing that could hurt Schroder’s chances down in Orlando. His wife is currently pregnant, with a due date in two-to-three weeks. Schroder said he will leave the bubble when she goes into labor, so there could be games left on the table for the Oklahoma City guard. Still, he has the best chance to will the award and is the best bet.

The Clippers Duo

The Los Angeles Clippers actually have two candidates, and the second- and third-best NBA picks for the Sixth Man of the Year, which is counterintuitive. They are also each other’s biggest enemy in trying to win the award since they eat into each other’s production

Lou Williams has won the award in back-to-back seasons, and he was the favorite to win it early in the year. However, once Kawhi Leonard and Paul George each got more healthy, it hurt Williams’ production. Still, he is third in the odds and averaging an impressive 18.7 points and 5.7 assists per game.

Montrezl Harrell is the second Clipper in the race, sitting second in the NBA Sixth Man of the Year odds, behind Schroder. He has been an important part of the Clippers’ success, averaging 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.

While both Clippers are very talented and put up great numbers, their chances to win the award seem slim. Not only are they stealing production from each other, they are also playing behind two superstars that are healthier than they have been all season. And with a short schedule ahead, we may see less breaks from Leonard and George, giving Williams and Harrell less opportunity to make up ground on Schroder.
