It has been a long trip to get here, but tonight is the first game of the NBA Finals between the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors. It’s not exactly a big surprise that the Warriors made it here, but the Celtics didn’t look anything like a championship contender until the start of 2022. These squads finished first and second in defensive rating during the regular season, so the games may be a little lower scoring. With OddsShopper as the guide, finding picks for the same-game parlay is going to be very easy tonight.

Jayson Tatum O/U 28.5 Points
OddsShopper checks in on the first leg of the parlay with a 53% expected win rate, and Jayson Tatum is going to have to have a big series if the Celtics can bring home the championship. During the regular season, Tatum scored 26 and 27 points in the two games these teams faced each other, and he’s averaging the most points per game of any player still active in the playoffs (27 points per game). Tatum is also driving to the hoop 13.7 times per game and the Warriors are allowing a 64.9% field goal rate from inside of five feet, so Tatum has a path there to score plenty of points. He’s scoring nearly 10 per game between shots and free throws when he drives, and Golden State is also allowing a 44.7% frequency of 3-point attempts. Tatum has hit 37.5% of his 3-point attempts this season, so there is a clear opportunity to exploit for him.

Marcus Smart O/U 3.5 Rebounds
The individual ROI on this wager isn’t terribly exciting at -144, but this is a strong addition to a parlay because it has a higher chance of not being a leg that fails and it raises the total. OddsShopper also has a whopping 68% expected win rate, and it’s always hard to ignore that. Marcus Smart battled through an ankle injury in Games 6 and 7 to play 40 and 41 minutes as the Celtics triumphed over the Miami Heat, and he winds up grabbing some rebounds almost by default. Those minutes certainly won’t go anywhere in this series, as his perimeter defense has to help deal with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole. Smart is averaging 4.5 rebounds per game through the playoffs, and Golden State is a little bit of a smaller team. The Warriors were able to beat up on the Dallas Mavericks in the previous round since Dallas was even smaller, but the Celtics present a much different challenge. Smart has averaged 8.1 rebounding chances per game in the 15 playoff games he’s played and is only needing to grab four to hit this wager.

Kevon Looney O/U 9.5 Rebounds
Perhaps including this wager for Kevon Looney is too much of a projection from his role in the Western Conference Finals. After being played mostly under 20 minutes (if at all) in the first two rounds, Looney averaged 28 minutes, 10.6 rebounds and 15.8 rebound chances per game in the last series. He simply tormented the Mavericks on the glass in part because Dallas just did not have the size to deal with him. Boston is not nearly the same matchup with Al Horford and whatever Robert Williams can give them, and Boston was fifth in rebounds during the regular season. Golden State did finish seventh, but they’re going to need some extra help in the frontcourt, as Draymond Green can’t defend the glass all by himself. Looney may not play a ton, but he should have enough of an opportunity to hit this wager, and OddsShopper agrees with a 54% expected win rate.

Draymond Green O/U 5.5 Assists
This is another wager where the odds aren’t spectacular with a -140 ROI, but the Looney leg of this same game parlay had a +102 return, so Green would help balance things out. It can be nice to throw in a couple of legs that are easier to hit when a series starts to get a feel about how the teams are going to match up, and Green has had a strong postseason run thus far. He’s acting as the de facto point guard for the Warriors offense, as he leads in passes (60.4), assists (6.3) and potential assists (12.8). Boston is a difficult defense to crack, but they still allow points and it can be easier to rack up some assists when passing the ball to shooters of the caliber of Curry, Thompson and Poole. The Warriors enter Game 1 as 3.5-point favorites, and Green should likely play more than the 30.4 minutes he’s averaged to this point in the playoffs. Like the Smart wager, Green has an excellent expected win rate from OddsShopper at 64%.

Heat vs. Celtics Same Game NBA Parlay Odds: +1079
If all of these wagers hit, the return would be +1079 according to the Awesemo Parlay Calculator. If the wager is $100, the return would be $1079.28 for just four picks.
