The 2020 NFL season is coming in hot, which means your betting card for the season needs a double-check. We’re going to be going over a copious amount of NFL futures bets, NFL odds, NFL betting picks and NFL predictions for the 2020 campaign. Sportsbooks have released win totals for every team, and we’re going to examine strengths, weaknesses, schedules and make predictions on the over/under. Right now, we’re looking at the Dallas Cowboys.
The Cowboys have the third longest drought among teams to last appear in the NFC conference championship game. It has been 25 seasons since their last title game trip in the NFC. Only Detroit and Washington have longer droughts and those teams haven’t exactly had more talent or hype than Dallas. The Cowboys have added some key pieces up front in Everson Griffen and Dontari Poe. Their first round wide receiver Ceedee Lamb is expected to make an immediate impact as he has the potential to be a star wide receiver. The pieces are there to finally make a deep playoff push and end that tough drought of a quarter of a century. A win total of nearly double digits is nothing new for a team that is consistently hyped up to be a major threat in the NFC. They have been anything but consistent over the years, but it has not been since 2008 in which Dallas had a win total in double digits. They flashed brilliance in 2016 when Dak Prescott was a rookie. They are hopeful of returning to the national landscape with dominance in all facets of the game. Major sportsbooks have noticed that as Dallas is primed and ready. In fact, they have the most juice among any team in the entire NFL in terms of taking an over on a win total. Can they finally live up the hype and become a playoff contender?

Dallas Cowboys Strengths
The Cowboys are about as lethal as it gets offensive entering the 2020 season. At least on paper, which is something that we have said quite a bit about Dallas over the years. But this time I honestly mean it. I am not banking on a Super Bowl or anything like that. However, if this squad stays healthy and misses the playoffs, it would be an absolute disastrous start to the Mike McCarthy era. The NFC is super loaded, but Dallas is as good as arguably anybody. Dak Prescott will prove to be a top ten passer and Ezekiel Elliott should be moving the chains with authority. This team has the perfect balance attack that should keep every defense off guard. Most offenses are throwing a bit more these days, but to have a stud back in Elliott surely makes life easier. The amount of explosive plays this offense could provide is tantalizing, but they even have a premier kicker to help win the close games as well. ‘’Greg The Leg’ Zuerlein should be automatic in crunchtime for the Cowboys. They really struggled in that area last season with Brett Maher, but a premier kicker helped lead the Rams to the Super Bowl two seasons thanks to Zuerlein. I am not banking on such happening this season, but the points and ultimately the wins will be flowing for Dallas this season.Â
Dallas Cowboys Weaknesses
A premier pass rush is almost always key for a championship level defense. Dallas has not had that in many years, but they look like they are getting awfully close. It may not be a true weakness, but the lack of proven pass rushers is still worrisome. The secondary could be a major issue as well since there is no shutdown corner type of player that can make this a squad that the opposition is fearful of when they throw. In fact, there are hardly any experienced players in that group. The linebackers should be solid, but that secondary is going to need to come away with more takeaways if they are playing with leads. Allowing the opposition to get back into a ball game by playing soft coverage is the perfect way to lose a nail-biter.
Dallas Cowboys Schedule
This schedule is very favorable and the division can really help them gain confidence and momentum as they approach a likely postseason trip. The first seven games should allow them to really flourish offensively, but the defense is the key that should allow them to settle in well throughout the season. The last nine games will be a challenge since they could take on six playoff caliber squads. Half of those games are at home so I wouldn’t bet against Dallas even with a schedule that should be challenging.Â
NFL Projection
Only two first-year coaches have ever won the Super Bowl in their first season and Mike McCarthy has the team to become the third (George Seifert in 1989 & Don McCafferty in 1970). The Cowboys juice for the over is crazy like I had mentioned earlier (-160 NFL odds or more), but this team is worth that extra dollar. They seem to be on a collision course with a few NFC juggernauts in a critical postseason matchup. I am not trying to look ahead too much, but Dallas looks like they are finally going to get to the postseason with some conviction. The offensive talent is stacked and an improving defense will allow them to win some shootouts if they need to. There is decent value on Dallas leading the NFL in wins, but hitting the over on this NFL future of a 9.5 total is a safe pick with great depth at both wide receiver and quarterback.
