The Winning Element: PGA DFS Optimizer Picks & Projections for 2022 Honda Classic DraftKings & FanDuel Lineups

All of the PGA DFS content and fantasy golf picks this week are geared toward providing information that will help with DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy golf, PGA odds and betting predictions in the best way possible. With the help of the Awesemo expert , this is the last of the week-long written PGA fantasy picks material for DraftKings and FanDuel at the 2022 Honda Classic.

PGA DFS Golf Picks This Week: 2022 Honda Classic

This column will include 6 to 12 players as part of the core, which earns my highest allocation on DFS and is matched with bets across the board. All three of my favorite trio of Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay are taking the week off. None of them have come to this event for years. Maybe they will compete next week at the Arnold Palmer, but it is likely the next event Cantlay plays will be the Players.

PGA Weather Forecast

There will be deal temperatures throughout the day, with maybe a speck of rain early Thursday morning. Once the marine layer wears off, it gets warm quickly. Wind will be present but not overly concerning; expect a scoring average close to 71.75 or higher given the conditions.

Honda Classic Fantasy Golf Picks & Projections

These golfers will have anywhere between 20% and 50% allocation.

Sungjae Im ($11,000 DraftKings/$12,000 FanDuel)

Louis Oosthuizen ($10,800 DraftKings/$11,600 FanDuel)

It is a bit cliche to pick the two top-priced golfers on the slate, but in lineups where I am playing golfers over $10,000 this week, it will usually be either Im or Oosthuizen. Daniel Berger’s health is a big question mark, and Joaquin Niemann is coming off the biggest win of his career. Brooks Koepka would be the third option here, as he has a ton of volatility. Pairing him up with more aggressive lineups has proven to be the winning strategy when he has made the cut in years past.

Im’s his trips to PGA National have been stellar, with a win and another top-10 in three starts. He is also playing well recently, with three top-11s, a 33rd and a missed cut in five starts. Oosthuizen’s trips to West Palm have not been as fruitful, with two top-25s, three missed cuts and a withdrawal in five trips. That is not the Oosthuizen of the last year or so. It is a good bet that the form will pick up right where it left off at the Waste Management two weeks ago, where he gained strokes in all four facets en route to a tie for 14th.

Keith Mitchell ($9,100 DraftKings/$10,400 FanDuel/$30 Yahoo)

With projected ownership of 15% and a hefty price tag on DraftKings, Mitchell is a better play on other sites, where ownership remains around the same but the salaries are much lower compared to the average price per golfer. His form has been solid all year, with just one missed cut and a handful of top-15s. He has a high ceiling, having won the event before, but he also adds two missed cuts, showcasing the variance this course provides. Given that variance, it would be better to have a bit more stability for a golfer with this price tag, so using Mitchell on sites other than DraftKings provides that opportunity.

Matt Jones ($9,000 DraftKings/$10,900 FanDuel)

Three straight times Jones has played the weekend at the Honda Classic, something not many golfers in the field can say. He is also the defending champion of the event and not too far removed some high-quality golf in Kapalua to start the year. As expected, he went through a bit of a lull after that but seemed to get his form back last week, gaining just shy of 10 strokes tee to green. With that type of performance and a flip of a poor putter, he could be in line to defend his title — or at least contend to do so.

Aaron Wise ($8,400 DraftKings/$9,800 FanDuel)

After a bit of a rough spell through the West Coast, the turnover in the calendar will be welcome for Wise. In his last performance at the Genesis, he gained over three strokes ball striking but lost around five with his short game. Typically he is much better around the green, but his struggles are always on the green. Maybe the flip to true Bermuda in Florida will help that improve, and with solid results here in the past, Wise should be set up for a ceiling week.

Awesemo golf betting experts Ben Rasa and Eytan Shander will be coming to you every tournament on the OddsShopper YouTube Channel with the Putting for Dough golf betting show, where they give you their expert PGA picks and predictions. This week they are giving their free golf betting picks for the 2022 Honda Classic.

Fantasy Golf Picks: $7,500 or less

With such a strong field this week, there is no reason to give any of these golfers a full 20% allocation. However, these are the golfers that will have the most allocation in my lineups.

Aaron Rai ($7,400 DraftKings/$9200 FanDuel)

Rai has proved himself worthy of a spot on the PGA Tour. Those who follow the DP World Tour know that Rai has a ton of talent and a bit of quirkiness that makes him relatable. Rai feels like someone in a Saturday morning game with iron covers and wearing two gloves. But all he needs is a tee time at PGA National on Saturday to gain a following quickly. Last week his iron game and approach game got him to the weekend and also helped him have a solid DFS output, though he struggled on the greens and off the tee a bit.
