CFB DFS Picks: Max Duggan and Chase Brown Lead the Way (October 29)

Week 9 is here, and the schedule continues to pick up with good games scattered throughout the slate. There are 13 games kicking off between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. ET and some good matchups all over the board for CFB DFS picks.

Arkansas heads to Auburn for a matchup with the Tigers. Iowa State hosts Oklahoma with huge Big 12 implications on the line. Undefeated TCU travels to Morgantown to battle West Virginia. Syracuse hosts Notre Dame looking to get right after last week’s loss to Clemson. Georgia Tech hits the road to Tallahassee for a matchup with Florida State. Undefeated Ohio State makes the trip to Penn State to battle the Nittany Lions. Those are just the games starting at 12 p.m. ET, with seven more contests kicking off between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. ET.

Georgia and Florida head to Jacksonville to matchup in “The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.” Oregon heads to Cal after dominating previously undefeated UCLA. Kansas State hosts Oklahoma State in another key Big 12 matchup. Wake Forest heads to Louisville to battle Malik Cunningham and the Cardinals. Chase Brown and Illinois make the trip to Nebraska for a matchup with the Cornhuskers. Last, but certainly not least, Central Florida hosts Cincinnati in a huge AAC battle.

With so many games in play and less teams playing against inferior competition, there are plenty of strong CBB DFS picks at all positions. This article will provide NCAAF DFS picks and lineup advice for the DraftKings slate on Oct. 29 that locks at 12 p.m. ET.

CFB DFS Picks: Week 9 Saturday CFB Picks

Quarterback

Max Duggan, TCU ($8,500)

Projected as the top quarterback on the slate, Max Duggan looks like an elite play in all formats at $8,500. Averaging a robust 30.5 DraftKings points per game, Duggan has been one of the top signal-callers in the country. With TCU being a 7.5-point favorite in a game with a total of 68.5, the Horned Frogs are expected to score plenty of points against the Mountaineers, and Duggan looks like one of the top plays on the entire slate. Elite floor/ceiling combination, he’s a true ‘fade at your own risk’ type if you aren’t playing him.

Malik Cunningham, Louisville ($8,000)

While dropping down to Syracuse quarterback Garrett Shrader makes some sense at $5,900, it’s hard to get away from either Duggan or Cunningham on Saturday. Projected right behind the TCU signal-caller as the second-highest projected quarterback on the slate, there’s a ton to like about Cunningham here. Facing a Wake Forest defense that ranks 318th in the country against quarterbacks, Cunningham’s upside is massive in this spot, as evidenced by the 37 DraftKings points he dropped on the Demon Deacons in last year’s matchup. Averaging 29.2 DraftKings points per game, Cunningham looked pretty good last week after missing back-to-back games in Week 6 and Week 7, and expect his production to only go up as he continues to shake off the rust.

Other Quarterbacks: John Rhys Plumlee, Central Florida ($8,700); Stetson Bennett, Georgia ($8,400); Spencer Sanders, Oklahoma State ($8,300); Jordan Travis, Florida State ($8,200); Garrett Shrader, Syracuse ($5,900); Hunter Dekkers, Iowa State ($5,300); Robby Ashford, Auburn ($5,200)

Running Backs

Chase Brown, Illinois ($7,500)

Projected as the highest-scoring running back on the slate, Chase Brown looks elite in both cash games and tournaments at $7,500. Averaging 26.8 DraftKings points per game, Brown has been the catalyst behind Illinois’ impressive 5-1 record, and he’s in another great spot on Saturday matched up with a weak Nebraska defense in Lincoln. At least 17.9 DraftKings points in every game this season, Brown has two games with over 35 points and three others with over 22. Facing a Nebraska defense that has allowed 190.4 rushing yards per game this season, Brown is too cheap at $7,500, and he’s a cog in our machine in all formats.

Bucky Irving, Oregon ($5,700)

Plenty of good running back options to choose from on this slate, but Irving’s $5,700 is too hard to ignore. Averaging 15.5 DraftKings points per game, Irving has seen his role increase recently, with the Minnesota transfer surpassing 18.7 or more DraftKings points in three out of the past four games. Coming off his best game of the season in last week’s win over UCLA, Irving rushed for 107 yards on 19 carries against the Bruins, while also catching three passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. With Byron Caldwell seemingly nowhere close to returning, Irving looks to be taking complete ownership of the Ducks’ running game, and at $5,700 he’s arguably the top value play on the entire slate.

Other Running Backs: Mohamed Ibrahim, Minnesota ($7,300); Deuce Vaughn, Kansas State ($7,000); Sean Tucker, Syracuse ($7,000); Kendre Miller, TCU ($6,300); Tank Bigsby, Auburn ($5,400); CJ Donaldson, West Virginia ($5,200); Logan Diggs, Notre Dame ($3,900)

Wide Receivers

Xavier Hutchinson, Iowa State ($7,900)

One of the biggest target monsters in college football, Hutchinson is hard to get away from on Saturday at $7,900. Despite playing in an unproductive Iowa State offense, Hutchinson has been one of the best wideouts in the country, averaging 26.4 DraftKings points through seven games. Facing an Oklahoma defense that has gotten absolutely shredded by opposing No. 1 wide receivers, Hutchinson couldn’t ask to be in a better spot on Saturday, and it makes all the sense in the world why he’s the highest projected receiver on the slate. Should be very popular in this spot, so if you are fading him, do it in tournaments.

Oronde Gadsden II, Syracuse ($6,100)

Much like running back, there are plenty of good high-end wide receivers on this slate, but Gadsden stands out at a very affordable $6,100 price tag. Easily the top target for quarterback Garrett Shrader, Gadsden has been phenomenal for the Orange this season, averaging 19.3 DraftKings points per game as Syracuse has surprised the world with a 6-1 record. Only dropping below 10 DraftKings points one time the entire season, Gadsden has been about as reliable as any receiver in the nation, and his $6,100 price tag is just too cheap. Clear upside with 32 or more DraftKings points in two games already, Gadsden is right there with Irving as the top value play on the slate.

Other Wide Receivers: Trey Palmer, Nebraska ($7,600); Quentin Johnston, TCU ($7,200); Emeka Egbuka, Ohio State ($6,900); Bryce Ford-Wheaton, West Virginia ($6,700); Johnny Wilson, Florida State ($6,100); Michael Mayer, Notre Dame ($5,600); Kaden Prather, West Virginia ($5,400); Bryson Green, Oklahoma State ($5,400); J.Michael Sturdivant, California ($5,200); Julian Fleming, Ohio State ($5,100); Jaylin Noel, Iowa State ($4,600); Justin Shorter, Florida ($4,300)
