Greetings, Gamers! While we have a shorter “main” slate tonight with just six games, we have a solid early slate with five games.

Similar to last year, I will be providing a review of one stack for each of the day’s slates. Some of these short-slate options will be good for the full-game set, others will be more contrarian and better suited for the mini-game sets.

Early-Slate MLB DFS Picks

Minnesota Twins at LHP Matthew Boyd – 3.9 implied runs

Hat tip to southpaw Matthew Boyd, who has tied Dylan Bundy with 74 home runs allowed since the beginning of the 2018 season. In three of his last four starts, Boyd has allowed multiple home runs. Of his eight this year, seven have gone to righties. On that note, Nelson Cruz has a .476 ISO in his last 176 plate appearances against southpaws. Miguel Sano is not too far behind with a .338 ISO over 148 such matchups. Switch-hitters Jorge Polanco and Marwin Gonzalez should also have a prominent role this afternoon in our lineups. Finally for a discount dandy, Ildemaro Vargas should be in the lineup with both Mitch Garver and Byron Buxton on the injured list. Keep in mind that this is the first game of the 7-inning doubleheaders today.

Main-Slate MLB DFS Picks

Milwaukee Brewers vs. RHP JT Brubaker – 5.4 implied runs

For insight on the Diamondbacks and Nationals as stacking options check out today’s article from Terry “TMcB” McBride.

After three seasons with the University of Akron Zips, RHP JT Brubaker was selected in the sixth round of the 2015 draft. While in college, he managed just a 6.3 K/9 with a 3.6 BB/9. On a positive note he allowed a paltry eight home runs over his 224.1 collegiate innings. Across five minor league seasons the punchouts went up by one and the walks down by one and he again limited power. Brubaker is essentially profiling as a ground ball innings eater.

In his last start, Brubaker held the Brew Crew in check over four innings with just one walk, four hits and a healthy six strikeouts. That is not enough to keep me away tonight. Omar Narvaez is finally starting to heat up with four extra base hits in his last 31 at bats. He is an excellent discount dandy on sites that require us to roster a catcher. Christian Yelich and switch-hitting Justin Smoak bring the power against righties with their .312 and .247 ISOs over the last two plus seasons. They also are good at getting free passes with their 13.1 BB% and 15.2 BB% respective walk rates. If you are looking for a full-stack in the hopes of getting to the Bucs bullpen, then Keston Hiura and Avisail Garcia are adequate options.

Coors Field Extravaganza MLB DFS Picks

San Diego Padres at RHP Antonio Senzatela – 6.9 implied runs

Over his last 119.2 Coors Field innings, RHP Antonio Senzatela has allowed a 1.28 HR/9 with a 5.57 ERA and 4.57 xFIP while ceding 1.60 baserunners per inning. We saw the Padres put up 10 runs in the rain on Friday and it should be dry tonight. DraftKings, Yahoo and even FanDuel did a good job of adding a premium to the key players on both sides of this affair. Fernando Tatis Jr.has a career .295 ISO against same-handed hurlers #analysis.Trent Grisham and Eric Hosmer both will have the platoon advantage and are above average bats. Manny Machado and Wil Myersare incredibly steady options and worth their premium price tags. For savings look to Josh Naylor $3,000 DraftKings, $11 Yahoo and $2,500 FanDuel.

Colorado Rockies vs. LHP Adrian Morejon – 6.1 implied runs

Making his third appearance, rookie southpaw Adrian Morejon will likely be on a pitch count in the 40-50 range. The Cuban youngster does have good strikeout stuff, but he has never pitched above the double-a level. Keep in mind that the Padres had a doubleheader on Thursday and their bullpen was leverage. We will likely see RHPs Javy Guerra and/or Michel Baez coming in after Morejon. On DraftKings we will want to follow The Masses and pretty much lock in Matt Kemp at $2,900. He is appropriately priced on the other sites.

Trevor Story and Nolan Arenado will each get at least one chance against the lefty and they both have .310+ ISOs since the beginning of the 2018 season. Charlie Blackmon is of course fine in same-handed matchups and he should get to see some righty relievers as well. Depending on who is in the lineup there will be a grab bag of mixed value with Sam Hilliard, Josh Fuentes, Brendan Rodgers and Drew Butera.
