Saturday gets the action started early with a 10-game itinerary of MLB DFS then followed by a five-game schedule on the main slate. Ian Anderson will give it another go today after Friday’s postponement in New York while Julio Urias heads into a rematch with the Giants, who pulled off a win against the Dodgers in extra innings last night. Main Slate Spotlight
Ian Anderson: ATL at NYM — DraftKings $9,800; FanDuel $9,000
Ian Anderson draws the start against the Mets averaging 18.7 DraftKings and 34.2 FanDuel points with a 25.2% strikeout rate in nine starts. Awesemo’s MLB Top Pitchers Tool gives Anderson a 44.9% chance of becoming a top-two pitcher on DraftKings and a 19.9% chance of being the top pitcher on FanDuel. His MLB DFS projections combine with an attainable price tag to give Anderson a 29% chance of becoming a top-two value on DraftKings and a 13.3% chance of being FanDuel’s top value pitcher. MLB daily fantasy ownership projections of 56.1% on DraftKings and 44.6% on FanDuel signify the smaller slate’s evident chalk play with little to argue against in regards to salary and matchup value.
Scheduled to face five righties, two lefties and two switch-hitters from the Mets, Anderson currently has a 23.6% strikeout rate against right-handed hitters. The problems New York provides are few and far between, while leadoff hitter Jonathan Villar could be troublesome from both sides of the plate. The Mets currently have a .225 team batting average, 23.2% strikeout rate, and 86 wRC+ against right-handed pitching. Staying under five figures in salary and facing one of the best matchups for a righty pitcher, Anderson remains one of the best options to top the mound on Saturday’s main slate despite the massive ownership in tow.

Julio Urias: LAD vs SF — DraftKings $10,000; FanDuel $11,500
Julio Urias draws the start at home against the Giants, averaging 23.4 DraftKings and 40 FanDuel points with a 29.4% strikeout rate in 10 starts. Awesemo’s MLB Top Pitchers Tool aligns Urias with a 39.8% chance of reaching top-two pitcher status on DraftKings and a 17% chance of being the top pitcher on FanDuel. Some of the slate’s highest MLB DFS projections intersect with a lofty price tag to give Urias a 19.5% chance of being a top-two value on DraftKings, while a 4.3% chance of being the top value on FanDuel. MLB daily fantasy ownership projections of 40.6% on DraftKings and 19.1% on FanDuel make Urias the clear-cut number two option on both sites, behind Anderson as a much costlier alternative.
With Urias due to face six righties and three lefties from the Giants, he’s striking out right-handed batters at a 28% rate with a 0.97 WHIP this season. Buster Posey (third) has resurrected World Series form with a .394 ISO against left-handed pitching this season, while Evan Longoria (fourth) has been as impressive with a .371 batting average against lefty pitchers. The Giants have earned a .237 batting average, 22.5% strikeout rate, and 108 wRC+ against the split in 2021. The salary cost is a lot to handle on FanDuel but Urias still represents one of the best pitching selections available on Saturday’s condensed main slate, at a fraction the ownership of Anderson.

Mike Folynewicz: TEX vs SEA — DraftKings $5,600; FanDuel $7,100
The bargain bin find of the day is Mike Foltynewicz in Seattle, averaging 11.2 DraftKings and 23.1 FanDuel points with a 17.9% strikeout rate over 10 starts. Awesemo’s MLB Top Pitchers Tool gives Folty a 20.3% chance of being among the top-two pitchers on DraftKings and an 11.3% chance of being the top pitcher on FanDuel. With decent MLB DFS projections at a major discount on DraftKings give him a 39% chance of being a top-two value while a slight price hike gives Folty a 15.5% chance of being the top value pitcher on FanDuel. MLB daily fantasy ownership projections indicate the discount popularity for Folty on DraftKings while remaining a fairly unpopular investment on FanDuel.
Scheduled to face five lefties and four right-handed Mariners hitters, Foltynewicz is striking out righties at a 20.9% rate while having his share of struggles against left-handed opposition. Kyle Seager (third) has a .235 ISO against right-handed pitchers this year where Folty’s 2.7 HR/9 against lefties glare as a top concern. Yet, the Mariners have a .204 batting average, 25.8% strikeout rate, and 85 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers this season. Although his issue against lefty power is one that’s hard to ignore, the Mariners offensive ineptitude is a mutually evident soft spot for Foltynewicz to take advantage of at a discount.
