There’s nothing like a little Sunday afternoon baseball on a beautiful summer weekend. Thanks to Monkey Knife Fight, there are all kinds of ways to have some skin in the game. Here are a few MLB picks and predictions to consider for Sunday’s slate of games.
Today’s Top Monkey Knife Fight MLB Player Prop PicksÂ
Royals vs. Rangers ‘More or Less’ Contest (3x Buy-In)
The first contest for Sunday’s slate takes a look at the starting pitchers in the Royals – Rangers showdown. It has been a very rocky 2021 season for Texas starter Jordan Lyles. Despite giving up a minimum of five hits and two runs in each of his last six starts, Lyles managed to work through six full innings on four of those occasions. That said, there isn’t a whole lot of statistical evidence that encourages he can get that far in today’s game. The Kansas City bats have been quiet in the first two games of this series, but several hitters have found success off of Lyles in the past. A full six innings is Lyles’ absolute ceiling, making the under the preferred choice.
The other half of this Monkey Knife Fight MLB contest looks at total hits allowed by Royals starter Brady Singer. After a solid start to the season, Singer has struggled a bit in his recent outings. In fact, Singer has allowed five hits or more in eight of his last nine starts. While he did stay under the line of 5.5 hits allowed in his last three appearances, part of this was due to his not making it through four innings in two of those. The Rangers have mashed Kansas City pitching for 25 total hits in the first two games of this weekend series. Look to back the hot bats against a struggling pitcher by playing the over.
Athletics vs. Giants ‘Rapidfire’ Contest (3x Buy-In)
The second Monkey Knife Fight MLB contest dives into the finale of this weekend’s Bay Bridge Series between the Athletics and Giants. The first matchup is between both third basemen, as the Giants’ Wilmer Flores is laying half a fantasy point to Oakland’s Matt Chapman. The Awesemo projections only have Flores finishing with 0.3 more fantasy points in today’s game. Although Chapman strikes out much more often, users must remember that batters do not lose points for striking out in Monkey Knife Fight fantasy scoring. After hitting a home run yesterday, Chapman is the preferred side in this matchup as an underdog.

The second MLB fantasy picks matchup to round out this contest sees San Francisco’s Austin Slater as a 0.5-point favorite against Oakland’s Ramon Laureano. The underdog is once again preferable here. The Awesemo projections have Laureano finish with more fantasy points. Again, when one takes away deductions for strikeouts, this favors Laureano. He has also been the hotter of the two recently, with six hits over his last six games. Slate hasn’t even reached base since last weekend. Unless Oakland starter Cole Irvin falters horribly, both A’s are the best picks for this contest.
Cubs vs. Dodgers ‘More or Less’ Contest (3x Buy-In)
The final contest turns to this week’s Sunday Night Baseball action between the Cubs and Dodgers. A pair of stars are in question here, starting with Chicago’s Javier Baez. The Monkey Knife Fight MLB line has his total bases at 1.5 this evening. While 2021 hasn’t been a tremendous year for Baez so far, he does carry a four-game hitting streak into tonight’s contest. Nothing ever tends to come easy against Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw, but Baez does have a .250 career batting average against him. His results include both a double and home run. Given that Kershaw has been struggling a bit recently, the over is the play.
The second leg of this contest will take Mookie Betts to go over 1.5 total hits and walks this evening. Cubs starter Albert Alzolay has failed to make it through five full innings in each of his last two starts. Furthermore, Betts has exceeded the MLB picks total in each of the last three games and four of six overall entering tonight’s matchup. Combine a batter who is seeing the ball well with a struggling pitcher, and this lends itself to an over prediction.
