Tonight’s Top Monkey Knife Fight MLB Player Prop Picks

Monkey Knife Fight has a ton of profitable contests for the public, and here we will break down the two best areas from which to make MLB picks.

Rapidfire — Draft Winner in 3 Categories | Prize: 4x

Tyler Anderson, Nestor Cortes

The Mariners and Yankees begin a four-game series in the Bronx tonight. Anderson and Cortes may not inspire a ton of hope on the surface, but there are some reasons to believe a low-scoring matchup may unfold. After all, New York got a 0.4-run decrease to its implied team total, and the initial 9.5-run game total could drop to nine before first pitch.

Anderson will make his second start for the Mariners. He allowed three runs over five innings, making it the ninth time in his last 10 starts in which he has held the opposition to three runs or fewer. While that is great for the under, Anderson will not have more strikeouts than his counterpart. Cortes has been fantastic this season, with a 1.93 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. Fortunately for him, Seattle has the second-highest strikeout rate (27%) against left-handed pitching, while New York is in the middle of the pack at 23.1% in the same split.

Aaron Judge, D.J. LeMahieu
Giancarlo Stanton, Mitch Haniger

The first of the two hitting matchups is between two Yankees, Judge and LeMahieu. LeMahieu has had his struggles slide under the radar this season, but he has five hits (three doubles) and five RBIs in his last nine plate appearances. Judge has hit safely in each of the last two games, even adding a home run in Tuesday’s win. While it is a tough decision, Judge is ranked higher in the Awesemo expert projections and has a .380 wOBA and .228 ISO against lefties this season.

The matchup between Stanton and Haniger is another one that will come down to the wire. Both guys have similar numbers against lefties (Haniger .342 wOBA and .224 ISO, Stanton .358 wOBA and .200 ISO), adding another layer of intrigue to the matchup. Haniger will be the winner, though, as he has five hits in his 12 plate appearances, including three last night in Tampa Bay. In addition, the +0.5 bonus is available with Haniger.

More or Less — Pick 2 | Prize: 3x

Framber Valdez vs. Touki Toussaint

Valdez gets a matchup against the Twins, who rank in the middle of the pack in strikeout rate (23%) against left-handed pitching. Even though Nelson Cruz, moved to Tampa before the trade deadline, Minnesota has still averaged a little more than five runs per game without him. In fact, only three pitchers have topped the 5.5-strikeout mark against the Twins in the 12 games since the move.

Toussaint is in an optimistic spot here, with the Braves’ moneyline increasing from a pick-’em to now -120. His last start was a disaster, as he allowed six hits and seven runs (two home runs) against the Brewers. However, he struck out five in those 3.1 innings. Toussaint will get the benefit of facing the pitcher in the National League park, whereas Valdez will be facing a designated hitter in the American League. Because of that, Toussaint will win this matchup.
