DraftKings NBA Lineups: Can Naz Reid and Saben Lee Hit Value Tonight?

The NBA will play a short four-game slate tonight. A rematch of last year’s NBA Finals — and a game between the slumping Phoenix Suns and surging Brooklyn Nets — will headline tonight’s card. NBA DFS players looking for expert advice on their DraftKings NBA lineups should pay careful attention to tonight’s injury report and play or fade these five players at the site, especially Naz Reid, according to Stokastic’s industry-leading NBA projections.

Expert Advice for DraftKings NBA Lineups | Jan. 19

Top Values

Naz Reid (MIN): $4,600

The Minnesota Timberwolves played without Rudy Gobert last night after he picked up a questionable tag. The Wolves have again listed him as questionable — along with Anthony Edwards and Taurean Prince. Karl-Anthony Towns remains out as well. Although Edwards should play, Gobert is at risk of missing another game. He tried to play through this injury against the Jazz on Monday but exited after only five minutes.

Should Gobert remain sidelined, Naz Reid will enter the starting lineup. Reid racked up 17 points, three rebounds, two assists and three blocks in last night’s battle with the Denver Nuggets, good for a whopping 28.3 DraftKings points and 5.8x value. Reid’s salary has tipped down for the second leg of Minnesota’s back-to-back, but he should still get plenty of run if Gobert remains on the sidelines. Reid is a top DFS value at DraftKings for me. He is also Josh Engleman’s best value on the board.

Jaden McDaniels (MIN): $4,800

With Gobert and Towns sidelined, Jaden McDaniels has stepped into a sizeable role for the Timberwolves. McDaniels led the team in scoring with 18 points last night. He added three rebounds, two assists and three blocks on his way to 30.3 DraftKings points and 6.4x value. McDaniels should see plenty of run regardless of Gobert’s status if he can stay out of foul trouble. At only $4,800, McDaniels makes a great addition to all DraftKings NBA lineups.

Saben Lee (PHX): $3,200

Like the Timberwolves, the Phoenix Suns won’t have a key part of their rotation. Star point guard Chris Paul originally picked up a questionable tag for Thursday night’s action but has since been ruled out. With Devin Booker, Cameron Payne, Landry Shamet and Josh Okogie all sitting as well, Phoenix’s reserve guard Saben Lee should play a large enough role to hit value.

Lee, a third-year player out of Vanderbilt, couldn’t stick in the rotation back in Detroit or Philadelphia. But the Suns have picked him up, and Lee played a whopping 29 minutes for Phoenix on Monday. He turned that opportunity into 10 points, two rebounds, three assists and a steal, good for 19 DraftKings points. Lee doesn’t have to do much to hit value at this price, and he’ll let you stuff several more expensive assets into your lineup.

Top Fades

Jaylen Brown (BOS): $9,000

The Boston Celtics will face the Golden State Warriors in a rematch of last year’s NBA Finals tonight. Jaylen Brown is questionable for the matchup but all signs point to him playing. If Brown suits up, he may struggle to hit value against such a lofty price point in his return to the floor. The last time Brown missed a game, the Celtics gave him only 28 minutes in the following contest.

Let other, more risk-tolerant DraftKings NBA DFS players take a risk on Brown. The star wing averaged 23.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game against Golden State in last year’s NBA Finals. He racked up an impressive 31 points, nine rebounds and three assists against them earlier in the year. But it’s easy to let numbers get in the way of narrative, and backing Brown in his first game back from an abductor injury isn’t smart at this price.

Jordan Poole (GSW): $7,800

With Klay Thompson removed from Golden State’s injury report, the Warriors will have the Splash Brothers back in action tonight. That should send Jordan Poole back to the bench and limit his usage. Poole accumulated only 15 points, two rebounds and three assists in his last game off the bench. His 24.5 DraftKings points returned only 3.1x value. Stokastic’s NBA projections have Poole scoring only 27.5 DraftKings points tonight, good for only 3.7x value against this price point.
