NBA DFS Picks Today: Tuesday, Feb. 7

Core Play of the Day — LeBron James: Los Angeles Lakers-Oklahoma City Thunder

The Lakers are on the featured TNT nightcap both today and again on Thursday, which is perfect timing considering that LeBron James is now only 36 points away from passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most points in NBA history. Barring injury, illness or rest, that milestone will become LeBron’s this week and potentially tonight.

There is no guarantee that James will get the record tonight, but he still rates out as one of the best fantasy options in the player pool. This game has a lofty 239.0 projected point total and should be teeming with fantasy goodness. Oklahoma City lost to the Warriors 141-114 last night and have allowed an average of 123.1 points per game over the last six.

Regardless of the scoring record, the Lakers need to bank some wins or this is going to be yet another lost season. Anthony Davis also rates out as a strong option against the less-than-imposing frontcourt employed by the Thunder. Finally, considering the trade buzz around Russell Westbrook, there is a chance that he may be held out with the transaction deadline being 48 hours away. That could open things up for Patrick Beverley and Dennis Schroder to get more minutes tonight at discounted salaries.

Nikola Jokic: Denver Nuggets-Minnesota Timberwolves

On Sunday, the Nuggets were worked over by the Timberwolves in Minnesota, suffering a 128-98 drubbing. This was not particularly shocking since Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon were held out on the back-to-back. This trio should be back in action tonight, and with things shaping up to be another stars-and-scrubs slate, Jokic is going to be a key player to target.

The two-time reigning NBA MVP has nine triple-doubles in his last 11 games; there really is not much else to add to the analysis today. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is expected to return from an ankle sprain suffered on Saturday, and Bones Hyland will likely continue to remain on the sidelines while Denver looks for a trade partner to bring in a defensive stopper. Murray, Gordon and Caldwell-Pope are all secondary options tonight.

Latest NBA DFS Content

Brandon Ingram: New Orleans Pelicans-Atlanta Hawks

For some inexplicable reason, the salary algorithms on both DraftKings and FanDuel have swung and missed (pitchers and catchers report one week from today, fellow seam-heads!) on Brandon Ingram. Though Jonas Valanciunas is expected to return to action, Zion Williamson is still out and Ingram has averaged nearly 34 minutes over his last three outings after a two-month recovery from his toe injury. Anything less than 40 fantasy points tonight is going to be a disappointment, and we should join The Masses in rostering this particularly appealing chalk option.

Additional NBA DFS Building Blocks Pick – Sports Betting Opportunities

Larry Nance Jr. is an interesting option in the sports wagering market tonight, with a 7.5 rebounds prop. Both Ingram and Valanciunas should be back in action, and Nance is also going to be battling with Clint Capela, John Collins and Onyeka Okongwu for boards.

NBA Bet Pro has Nance projected for 6.4 rebounds tonight against the visiting Atlanta Hawks. Tonight BetMGM is offering this wager at -140, and there is a 63% probability that Nance falls under this milestone. Though the 4% expected ROI% is not eye-popping, we can use this wager as part of a parlay to increase the upside payout potential.

Phoenix Suns-Brooklyn Nets

Devin Booker is expected to return tonight after a 21-game absence. He has been dealing with a groin injury that saw him play just 4.3 minutes in the last 24 games after likely returning a little too soon back on Christmas. Theoretically he should be fully healthy, but it is reasonable to project mid- to upper-20s for his minutes after such a long layoff. Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet remain out, though Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton and Mikal Bridges are decent tournament targets against this shorthanded Brooklyn squad that is on a back-to-back.

The Nets have already ruled out Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith, with both being potentially moved again prior to the end of the trading period. Kevin Durant, Seth Curry, Yuta Watanabe and T.J. Warren are all out with their respective injuries, though it sounds like Ben Simmons may see the court tonight.

Cam Thomas has done an impressive imitation of Irving over the last two games, averaging 33.9 minutes with 45.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists. Yes, he is going to cool off at some point, but the banged-up Suns defense is not particularly daunting this season. DraftKings still has Thomas with a $5,200 salary, though FanDuel has him appropriately earmark with a $6,500 cap hit.

Edmond Sumner has also seen a major increase in his fantasy production, and both sites have not adjusted his salary to account for a third consecutive start and he should be in the mix for another 30-fantasy-point performance. This duo is the most appealing among the Brooklyn options, as Nicolas Claxton will have to deal with Ayton tonight and who knows what is going on with Simmons.
