CFB Week 6 DFS Picks, Projections and More | Friday, October 6

College football Week 6 continues with a two-game Friday slate. CFB DFS differs from traditional NFL DFS in a few key areas. Rosters do not require a defense and instead incorporate a superflex where a second quarterback can be rostered. With the exception of short slates, using a second quarterback generally makes the most sense. From there, traditional stacking rules and other general football DFS strategies apply (such as looking at college football ownership projections). With that said, let’s get into the CFB Week 6 DFS picks and projections for Friday, Oct. 6.

CFB Week 6 DFS Picks and Projections | Friday, Oct. 6

Quarterback

Heinrich Haarberg ($5,900): The weaker contest on this two-game slate, Nebraska enters Week 6 as a three point underdog to Illinois in a game with a 42.5 total. Since taking over for Jeff Sims, Heinrich Haarberg has proved more efficient as a passer without as many turnovers. He also has 35 designed runs over the last three games. Illinois allows 4.6 yards per attempt to opposing rushers.

Will Howard ($9,000): Kansas State is an 11.5-point favorite over Oklahoma State in a game with a 54 total. Quarterback Will Howard battled a minor injury over the last two weeks, but the bye should help him here. He averages 34.5 attempts per game for 264.8 yards. Howard also has decent mobility with 123 cumulative rushing yards. He brings a strong floor and ceiling for cash games.

Luke Altmyer ($7,200): On the other side, Illinois has the more fantasy friendly offense, ranking 24th in pace and passing 52.6% of the time. Altmyer got benched in one game, but he averages 28.8 attempts per game for 214.4 yards. He also provides solid mobility with 175 cumulative rushing yards to date. Nebraska has a tougher defense, but Altmyer can still be used in contrarian builds.

Alan Bowman ($6,800): Even coming in as 11.5 point underdogs, Oklahoma State still passes the ball 59.4% of the time with the 26th ranked pace. Alan Bowman has been horrific under center and could get benched at any time. With that said, he likely throws the ball 40+ times in a game that remains competitive. Despite looking like the worst quarterback on this slate, he has some tournament appeal.

Running Back

Ollie Gordon II ($5,700): After mixing and matching the backfield for the first couple weeks, Oklahoma State has narrowed their rotation to Ollie Gordon II as their feature back. Last game, Gordon rushed 18 times and received five targets in pass game. Gordon also put up some solid efficiency with 135 total yards. It should be noted that this occurred against Iowa State.

DJ Giddens ($6,100): Perhaps the top price-adjusted play on the slate, DJ Giddens is coming off a monstrous 30-carry, eight-target game for Kansas State. Treshaun Ward did miss that game and now he will return. However, Giddens accounted for 293 total yards and four scores in that game. While Giddens probably won’t see 38 touches again, he has more than earned his fair share of this backfield.

Anthony Grant ($5,400): With injuries to Gabe Ervin Jr. and Rahmir Johnson, Nebraska has been forced to narrow their running back rotation. Anthony Grant handles most of  the touches, averaging 11.7 carries per game over the last three. He still cedes some pass game work to Emmett Johnson, but he remains the top candidate to lead this backfield in touches against an Illinois team surrendering 4.6 yards per carry to opposing backs.

Reggie Love III ($4,600): Coming back after a one-game absence, Reggie Love III stands out as the most efficient rusher for Illinois. The Illini have been set on using a running back by committee, which didn’t change with Josh McCray and Kaden Feagin both receiving double-digit carries last week. For that reason, this is still the fourth-most attractive backfield to target. However, Love should lead this committee.

Wide Receiver

Jaden Bray ($4,700): Oklahoma State basically uses Jaden Bray, De’Zhaun Stribling, and Brennan Presley as full time receivers. Bray actually leads the team with 29 targets and comes in as the cheapest play. In addition, he leads the team with 215 receiving yards, calling this pricing into question.

Billy Kemp IV ($4,900): Nebraska’s top pass catcher, Billy Kemp IV averages 6.0 targets per game for 38.6 yards. However, Kemp handles a 30.6% target share on 78.5% of the routes. In clear pass game scripts, Kemp has asserted himself as Haarberg’s preferred pass catcher.

Isaiah Williams ($6,400): A true alpha receiver in this Illinois offense, Isaiah Williams averages 9.4 targets per game for 89.2 yards. His underlying metrics include a 29.9% target share and a 81.2% route share, which make him the top stacking option with Altmyer.

Ben Sinnott ($5,400): Kansas State uses wide receiver Phillip Brooks and tight end Ben Sinnott as their two primary pass catchers with 23.3% and 19.6% target shares. With Brooks at $6.5k, Sinnott comes in as the superior price-adjusted play. Sinnott actually leads the team with 243 receiving yards and participates in almost every route. Brooks still remains a solid play with RJ Garcia II, Jadon Jackson, and Keagan Johnson providing deeper GPP viability.
