The Masters has been affected by rain for the past few years, but perhaps nothing compares to the brutal rain and wind that took over Augusta National during the second round on Friday. As the grounds were being evacuated, a massive tree blew over in the viewing area of the 17th hole, creating an incredibly scary scene. Luckily, players were not on the 17th hole at the time, and The Masters reported that nobody was hurt.

The rain is expected to continue throughout the evening at Augusta, and the masters announced during the afternoon that play was officially postponed until Saturday morning. The players who were still on the course will continue their rounds at 8:00 E.T. with the third round scheduled to begin shortly thereafter.
Per The Weather Channel, the rain is supposed to continue into Saturday, with showers expected throughout the morning and afternoon tee times. Luckily, though, there is little threat of thunderstorms remaining in the area. Still, temperatures in the high-40s to low-50s with winds at around 15MPH should make for some brutal conditions for golfers and spectators alike.
Tiger Woods was finishing the 12th hole when play was halted at The Masters. He has admitted that his surgically-repaired leg has a tough time holding up all the walking at Augusta National.
“I can’t imagine him trying to go 27-plus holes [in one day] around here,” Joe LaCava, Woods’s caddie, told the New York Post this week. “He’s pretty banged up. … If it wasn’t Augusta he probably wouldn’t be playing. … He still has the power, the swing speed, the shots and the length to contend. The injury is devastating, but if he could take a cart he could contend tomorrow.”
Masters leader Brooks Koepka was able to get his entire second round in before the rain touched down, getting to -12 on the tournament (three strokes ahead of Jon Rahm). Rahm will have to finish off the back nine of his second round before beginning Round 3 Saturday.
The latest Masters weather update shows we could be in for an incredibly tough weekend, with a Monday (or even Tuesday) finish remaining a possibility.
