NBA DFS Picks & Building Blocks: Stephen Curry Is The Perfect Tournament Pivot (March 26)

Sunday’s NBA action wraps up the weekend with a stupendous seven-game main slate tipping off at 6 p.m. ET on both DraftKings and FanDuel. There are several options in the player pool worth analyzing to find the top NBA DFS building blocks and NBA DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel lineups, including Stephen Curry.

NBA DFS Picks Today: Sunday, March 26

Core Play of the Day — Stephen Curry: Golden State Warriors-Minnesota Timberwolves

Tonight is a key game for the Warriors, as they are a scant 1.5 games above the Play-In Tournament cutoff. Even more important, the Timberwolves are one of three teams trying to erase that slim lead. Gary Payton II should be returning to action tonight, though Andrew Wiggins remains away from the team attending to a personal matter.

It has been 11 days since Stephen Curry dropped 50 points on the Clippers, and while that is not going to be a regular occurrence, it is a reminder of his slate-breaking upside. Curry is a safe option who has a fantasy point floor in the low-40s, and there is another 15 to 20 attainable points in upside if things are going his way. Over his last 10 games, the 34-year-old is averaging 36.2 minutes and 21.1 field goal attempts with a 52.1% conversion rate. He is also launching 11 3-point attempts per game during this stretch with a 43.6% success rate. This works out to 30.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 0.9 combined blocks and steals. Value will be plentiful today, so we have the luxury of riding with Curry as our core play of the day.

The other bonus with Curry is that the rest of the field is likely to be looking at other positions for their spend-up options. There are several value guards, as well as alternative top-end plays. Curry projects to be on fewer than 20% of all rosters tonight, which puts him in a rare category among the luxury options.

Pascal Siakam: Toronto Raptors-Washington Wizards

Pascal Siakam is a tremendous differentiation play for tournaments, and it would be a surprise if he is on more than 1-in-20 rosters. Toronto could easily move up to the second slot in the Play-In Tournament, which would give the Raptors a more favorable path into the postseason.

Siakam has been rocking over his last five games, averaging 37.1 minutes and 18.2 field goal attempts, making a robust 52.7%. This has culminated in 25.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 0.8 combined blocks and steals. Toronto has been installed as near double-digit favorites against the visiting Washington Wizards tonight; however, the ability of Siakam to stuff the stat sheet gives him a nice baseline projection and 50-fantasy-point upside, even with a normal minutes allocation.

Additional NBA DFS Building Blocks Pick — Sports Betting Opportunities

Jalen Green is an intriguing option in the sports wagering market tonight, with his assists prop sitting at 3.5. Over his last 14 games, he is averaging 34.7 minutes and 3.4 assists. Tonight the Rockets are taking on the Cavaliers, who have one of the best defenses in the league while also playing at a deliberate pace. This should help limit possessions as well as passes for Green, who is likely to be the scoring focal point tonight rather than a key distributor.

NBA Bet Pro has the 21-year-old projected for 34.7 minutes and 3.38 assists. This leads to a 59% likelihood that he will fall below the four assists needed tonight, and the current line of -132 at BetMGM provides a stellar 6% expected ROI.

Oklahoma City Thunder-Portland Trail Blazers

The Western Conference standings are something to behold, with the 3rd- and 12th-best records separated by a scant four games and most teams having between seven and nine tilts left on the season. This is an island game for Oklahoma City, and it is a crucial one for the Thunder, who are currently in the Play-In Tournament by virtue of their tiebreaker over Dallas. The Thunder have lost their last two games, but this is a rarity for them, being 8.5-point road favorites.

Aleksej Pokusevski should be making his return tonight after missing three months with a fractured leg. His minutes are likely to be semi-subdued, with Oklahoma City also playing on Tuesday and Wednesday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey are core options tonight, with rookie Jalen Williams not too far behind. Luguentz Dort and Jaylin Williams are differentiation plays on the main slate, and they rise to discount dandy status alongside Pokusevski for the two-game late slate.

The Trail Blazers have folded up the tents, and we have likely seen the last of Damian Lillard, Jusuf Nurkic, Anfernee Simons, Jerami Grant and Justise Winslow for the season. They are one game worse than the Pacers and Wizards and one game better than the Magic in the race for the fourth-most ping pong balls in the upcoming NBA Lottery.

It would be a surprise to see rookie Shaedon Sharpe continue to play 38 to 40 minutes for the rest of the season; however, 36-ish minutes with room for a little upside depending on in-game circumstances is a reasonable baseline. Tonight he is one of the best options in the player pool, and we will want to join The Masses in rolling him out in the majority of our lineups.

Keon Johnson, Trendon Watford, Drew Eubanks and Cam Reddish are the next wave of players to target down the stretch, and that is the preferred order of preference based on current salaries, position eligibility and projected fantasy production. Ryan Arcidiacono and Nassir Little will be around as the veteran presence, though it will be a surprise if they play more than mid-20s minutes during the final Tankapalooza stretch. Matisse Thybulle remains a tournament wild card with his ability to rack up steals and blocks, and Jabari Walker should see mid-20s minutes backing up both Watford and Eubanks.
