NFL Futures Bets + NFL Odds: 2020 Tennessee Titans Over/Under Win Total 8.5 | NFL Picks

The 2020 NFL season is coming in hot, which means your betting card for the season needs a double-check. We’re going to be going over a copious amount of NFL futures bets, NFL odds, NFL betting picks and NFL predictions for the 2020 campaign. Sportsbooks have released win totals for every team, and we’re going to examine strengths, weaknesses, schedules and make predictions on the over/under. Right now, we’re looking at the Tennessee Titans.

2001 was the last time the Titans opened a season with double-digit projected wins, and of course that was two seasons coming off a Super Bowl appearance and a Divisional loss in which they were tied for most wins in the AFC. Coming off their first AFC title appearance since 2002, this team was scorching down the stretch. They became that hot team that was unstoppable at running the ball downhill. Derrick Henry looked like the bad bully that nobody wanted any part of. Jack Conklin was a critical part of that line, and he is now off to Cleveland. Ryan Tannehill played like a borderline MVP during the regular season in stretches and then turned into more of a game manager in the postseason. If he can do more of the same, this team will have a chance to once again reach the postseason.

2002-03 was the last time they had consecutive appearances in the postseason, but times have changed. There are seven teams in each conference that make the playoffs now. A.J. Brown could be the next young star to take the world by storm. He eclipsed 1,000 yards despite not having the amount of receptions you see from a top target. Tennessee should be right there with the Colts atop the AFC South. The addition of Jadeveon Clowney boosts their NFL odds and makes them an even more likely playoff contender. Their playoff odds are certainly in their favor and the win total has stayed consistent. At just 8.5 wins, this squad brings back plenty of upside.

Strengths

The strengths are not difficult to understand. Henry is the best bruising back we have seen in years. Tackling him in the open field is mission impossible. He may not be a great pass-catching back, but there are solid options for Tannehill. Jonnu Smith is a breakout candidate at tight end thanks to great size and speed. He took it to the Ravens secondary in the Divisional Round and should have an even larger role. Brown is an absolute mismatch against any corner in the division and could feast in his sophomore campaign. Their ability to win in the trenches should continue even with the loss of Conklin due to guys like Ben Jones and Taylor Lewan.

Weaknesses

This is the challenging part for the Titans. They may not have any major weaknesses and are pretty good at nearly all positions. Tennessee was ninth to last against the pass last season, and they may not have a premier corner. Malcolm Butler and Adoree’ Jackson are a solid tandem, but their division has a solid group of offenses that should test them all season.  Kevin Byard is a star safety but will need the corners around him to improve from a season ago if they expect to be a championship defense. It also remains to be seen just how dominant this defense will be. Harold Landry, Jeffery Simmons and Vic Beasley could be a solid trio quartet of pass rushers. Clowney will likely demand the most attention, so they should be counting on those three to step their games up. However, the loss of Jurrell Casey in the middle of that defense could prove to be too much to overcome. Losing a solid veteran is never easy until some youngster proves worthy. The defense has done well without any household names, but it will only get tougher as more teams put a bullseye on the Titans in 2020.

Schedule

This is a manageable schedule that should at the very least keep them in the playoff picture. The division has two games against Jacksonville that should be tasty. The home schedule will tell us just how far this team is capable of going early on when they host Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Houston. If they get to 4-2 heading into the bye week, everything will still be on the table. The Bengals and Bears could help them get to 6-2 before they play the Colts twice with Baltimore sandwiched in between. That would likely get them to 9-5 or 10-4 before traveling to take on both the Packers and Texans.

Prediction

This team is frequently being picked to reach the playoffs yet again thanks to a dominant run game that just lit it up in the month of January. It will be fun to see them at it again if they enter as a Wild Card. I feel that will be a good spot for the Titans since they should be building a ton of momentum down the stretch. Those final two road games should be a challenge, but the Packers had a boatload of issues against the run last season, and the Texans could be officially eliminated by Week 17. I still believe in this team and am looking forward to A.J. Brown being a potential All-Pro in the near future. I am buying the Titans NFL future on this over with just a little bit of juice being involved.
