PGA DFS & Golf Betting Picks: Mexico Open 2022
None of my favorites head south of the border for this tournament, as they all gear up for the second major of the year coming in just four weeks.
PGA Weather Forecast
Weather will not be an issue at all this week, with projected winds not getting higher than a light breeze on each of the first two days and 80-degree temperatures.

Mexico Open Fantasy Golf Picks & Projections
These golfers will have anywhere between 20% and 50% allocation.
Jon Rahm
$11,300 DraftKings/$12,200 FanDuel | 12-1 First Round Leader
Only a few times this season has there been an overwhelming favorite to win the event, and both times it has been Rahm front and center. His pricing in DFS is not scary at all, not like his outright odds at least, but his ownership certainly can be. With such high expected ownership, the risk grows greater when trying to fade. It has been standard for me to play guys to their ownership when the expectation is incredibly high.
Lastly, on the betting market, 7-2 is all too short for a full-field event, so either he has a bad first round and the number increases, or he comes out blazing and takes the Round 1 lead, where he is being offered at a much more reasonable number of 12-1.
Aaron Wise
$9,400 DraftKings/$10,700 FanDuel | 30-1 Outright/Eachways)
Was it a one-week blip where he caught fire with the putter, or is it a greater trend leading to top-quality golf? That has been the question since Wise joined the PGA Tour four years ago. He is at his best world ranking since his first win on tour back in December of 2018, on the heels of a week where he gained strokes putting on the week. Adding to his confidence, he should feel this week is his second-place finish at the WWT Mayakoba Golf Classic, a course that features the same designer as this course, Greg Norman. Wise ended up losing strokes on his approaches last week, but he actually hit two-thirds of his greens in regulation, good enough for a top-20 ranking in the event. Likely, that means Wise lost a lot of strokes on a few shots and is not an indication of where his iron play actually is. For the year, he ranks 55th on tour in the category and 18th in the field.
Cameron Champ
$9,300 DraftKings/$10,400 FanDuel | 70-1 (Outright/Eachways)
Early in the week, Champ’s odds to win price touched 70-1 in many books but has since dropped to at best 50-1 according to Awesemo OddsShopper. Still, that bet seems like better value than the pricing on DraftKings this week. Even across the PGA DFS sites, his price reflects the risk/reward that comes with rostering a one-way player. With that, the exposure will not be as large on DraftKings as it will be in other areas.
Chad Ramey
$7,900 DraftKings/$10,400 FanDuel | 80-1 (Outright/Eachways)
Coming from the Korn Ferry Tour, Ramey’s consistency was unmatched in the super season, just behind Stephan Jaeger on the money list. His game was all about hitting fairways and greens, ranking inside the top 10 in both categories. While his starts in full-field events have not been great, especially this calendar year, his starts in alternate field events have been the best, coming in fifth at the Puerto Rico Open and winning the Corales Puntacana Championship. This event has a very similar field (plus Rahm and a few others) and comes with a full-field designation. Given his price, upside in similar events and a made cut streak, he should make a good value pick this week.
Wyndham Clark
$7,600 DraftKings/$9,400 FanDuel | 90-1 (Outright/Eachways)
It has finally been a solid run of form for Clark, who really struggled in the middle part of the season, missing all five cuts from the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am to the Valspar Championship. A 68 in Round 1 at Innisbrook in March seemed to turn his fortunes around, as he has made every cut since then, including a solid performance last week at the team event with Cameron Tringale ($9,700). That marks four cuts made in a row, and Clark should really benefit from the wide-open fairways this course provides. If his iron play matches the field or slightly beats it, Clark should be able to climb into the top 10 (9-1) by the end of the week.
