When looking towards fantasy football draft discussion, not much attention is brought to Robert Woods of the Rams. His last two seasons for the Rams have been solid, but he has slipped under the radar. With the addition of Matthew Stafford in the offseason, how high can Robert Woods reach in 2021? We will break down Robert Woods‘ production last season and project Woods’ 2021 fantasy football draft value.

Woods’ Production in 2020
In 2020 Woods played in 16 games and had 90 receptions (11th at the position) on 130 targets (12th) for 935 yards (22nd) and eight touchdowns (13th). While he did in a way live up to his expectations, finishing as a top 13 wide receiver in all formats, his points per game were lower than expected. It was still a solid year that was relatively consistent, even with Jared Goff at quarterback.

One of the biggest news stories from this offseason was Stafford getting traded to the Rams. That should lead to better production not just for receivers, but for the entire offense given the enhanced upside for longer drives and big plays. Now, Goff was not terrible, but adding a quarterback with a top-10 ceiling gives Woods an even further boost.
Woods’ Outlook in 2021
With Stafford, the sky is the limit for Woods. While the team only passed at a 55.75% clip in 2020, the expectation should be that with reliable quarterback play that number will bump up. A season more in line with his 2019 numbers (similar target volume to 2020 but with much better efficiency) is certainly in the books this year. The best way to understand how this offense is going to work is by using the Lions from 2019, when Stafford had Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. Both Jones and Golladay were top 24 wide receivers in points per game that season. In the Rams system Woods is Golladay and Cooper Kupp is Jones. Barring injury, Sean McVay should make magic happen.
