Lockett’s Production in 2020

Lockett’s 2020 season was entirely boom or bust, ranging from WR1 to bench-worth on any given week. It was frustrating not only because of the inconsistency, but because there was no method to the madness. Regardless of the opposing defense, his performance was a coin flip. For example, Week 3 against Dallas Lockett had nine receptions on 13 targets, 100 yards and three touchdowns. The next two weeks he had 89 yards. Then the very next game he had 200 yards and three touchdowns. His season-long numbers and 100 receptions (fifth) for 1,054 yards (15th) and 10 touchdowns (seventh). So while at the end of the season Lockett had great numbers, that truly was not the tale of the season. His teammate D.K. Metcalf was the same way; When Metcalf had a big game Lockett struggled, and vice versa.

Lockett’s Outlook in 2021

Looking at any Seahawks wide receiver in fantasy drafts this season is a tad risky. While they have one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in Russell Wilson, head coach Pete Carroll wants to run the football. The more they look to establish the run, the less chance the receivers have to touch the ball. While drafting Lockett is still a fine idea, understanding the potential drawbacks is key when making a draft selection. The reason to draft him is because of those boom games that have week-winning potential; few wide receivers will drop 40 points in a given week. Lockett is perfect for risk takers, but those who need more consistency should stay clear of Lockett in 2021.
