One of the major dominoes left to fall in the running back market, Dalvin Cook, will visit the New York Jets today. This potential signing comes on the heels of Breece Hall recovering from an ACL he tore in Week 7 of last year’s season. Since then, the Jets placed Hall on the physically unable to perform list. While this does not necessarily mean he will miss games, it is a step in the wrong direction for Hall. Hall has been practicing off the side at training camp, but he has yet to resume team activities.

Best Ball News: Dalvin Cook Jets Marriage Can Kill Breece Hall Value
Aside from the Hall injury complications, star quarterback Aaron Rodgers took a pay cut of roughly $35 million this week. This should give the Jets some extra room to sign contributors around Rodgers. With both factors coming together, Cook came right out and said the odds of him signing with the Jets are pretty high.
As far as fantasy implications go, this should be viewed as negative news for Hall. Hall currently comes off the board at 31.2 on Underdog Fantasy, just ahead of Jahmyr Gibbs, Najee Harris, Travis Etienne and Joe Mixon. However, he has been rapidly falling down draft boards. At the very least, Cook should be considered Hall insurance if the signing comes together. The best-case scenario is these two forming a committee. However, the Jets have said they will not rush Hall back for Week 1. Long-term this could help Hall, but for 2023 this is a major concern.
As for Cook, he currently has an ADP of 93.5, just ahead of James Cook, and Antonio Gibson. A rise in ADP should be expected given him potentially jumping Isaiah Pacheco and Alvin Kamara, who come are being drafted just ahead of him. If Hall misses regular season games, Cook should have a few weeks of pure feature back status in one of the best offenses in football. Rodgers has never been shy throwing the ball to running backs. Last year, Packers running backs combined for 87 receptions, giving Cook a solid floor/ceiling combination.
Overall, this likely signing is a positive for Cook and negative for Hall across fantasy football formats. This creates a buying opportunity for Cook as it stands.
