Top NFL DFS Stacks for Week 8 on DraftKings & FanDuel

In this weekly DFS series, we will comb through Stokastic’s top NFL DFS top stacks tool to see which Week 8 team stackability ratings stand out above the rest on DraftKings and FanDuel.

Later on Sunday morning, as the data team finalizes NFL DFS player projections for the week, we will add an update to this article looking at how the data has moved.

NFL DFS Week 8 Team Stackability Ratings on DraftKings & FanDuel

First things first: below is a short legend overviewing the data points that are included throughout, all of which can be found on Stokastic’s best NFL DFS stacks page for DraftKings and FanDuel.

Top Stack: The probability that the QB + receiver combo will be the highest scoring of the week (averaged the probabilities for top-scoring with one receiver and two receivers together).

QB Own: Projected ownership of the starting quarterback for the given team.

Avg Sal: Average salary of skill position players weighted for projected ownership.

Top Value: Top stack % points per dollar of salary spent.

Rush %: How often the team is expected to rush on any given play during the game. A lower Rush % means the quarterback will be throwing more often!

Overall Rating: Stokastic’s rating of the quality of the stack, taking into consideration key variables like top stack probability, top value probability, and projected ownership.

This is one of the more interesting weeks we’ve seen in 2023 when it comes to stackability ratings, as the landscapes are drastically different between DraftKings and FanDuel, and there are a ton of teams bunched around each other at the top on both sites.

Team Stackability Sunday Update – Week 8 NFL DFS

Week 8 NFL player projections have been updated.

On DraftKings, the Cowboys, 49ers, Ravens, Dolphins and Eagles are in the top five in overall team stackability rating, which factors in key variables like top stack probability, top value probability and ownership projections.

Moving to FanDuel, we find the Ravens, Eagles, 49ers, Cowboys and Texans in the top five, with the Chiefs in sixth.

We highly recommend going through all of the top stacks data for Week 8, as there are a lot of viable avenues to target on both sites.

Week 8 NFL DFS Top Team Stack: Kansas City Chiefs

Ranking near the top on DraftKings and first on FanDuel in Stokastic’s Week 8 NFL DFS team stacks tool as far as top stack probability goes, the Chiefs get a nod here despite the shaky overall rating on DK. They’re at 14.5% to finish as the best stack on FD and are at 8.4% (fourth best) on DraftKings. Inclement weather is forecasted in Denver for Sunday, so that’s something to look at closer to lock.

The Broncos’ defense has not been quite as terrible recently, but this is still a very winnable matchup for Patrick Mahomes, who will be aiming to replicate his dominant Week 7 showing by linking up with Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice and the rest of the Chiefs offense. Kansas City is implied for 26.25 points and favored by a touchdown on the road.

For Week 8 NFL DFS on DraftKings, Kelce has the highest boom probability of the group at 16.5%, followed by Isiah Pacheco (6.0%), Rice (3.5%) and Mahomes (3.2%). On FanDuel, Kelce is at a 19.4% boom probability, with Pacheco at 6.1%, Mahomes at 4.6% and Rice at 2.1%.

Week 8 NFL DFS Top Team Stack: Miami Dolphins

Whereas the Chiefs are grading out far better on FanDuel, it’s the other way around for the Dolphins. They’ve got a slate-best 14.4% top stack probability on DraftKings, but that number drops to 7.7% on FanDuel.

It’s not the best possible matchup you could ask for against the Patriots, but even the more difficult assignments haven’t seemed to stop this Miami offense from excellent week-to-week DFS production. And for Week 8, the Dolphins own the highest implied team total alongside Detroit (on Monday Night Football) at 27.25 points.

If we look at Miami’s player and team props page at OddsShopper for the matchup with New England, Tua Tagovailoa’s passing yard prop is at 278.5 yards, while Tyreek Hill is at 94.5 receiving yards and Jaylen Waddle is at 60.5 yards. Hill has a boom probability of 16.9% on DraftKings and 19.3% on FanDuel at his salary of $9,500 on both sites, while Raheem Mostert owns a 1.2% boom probability at $7,700 on DraftKings and 1.0% boom probability at $9,000 on FanDuel.

Other Week 8 NFL DFS Team Stacks to Consider

While the top stack probabilities and overall ratings are useful, having additional data points in projected QB ownership, top value probabilities and expected rush percentages for every team all on one page is extremely handy when doing NFL DFS prep.

Ahead of NFL Week 8, here are more team stacks to consider for your DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy lineups.

Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles are ranking as a strong team to stack for DFS in this matchup against a Commanders pass defense that’s struggled for most of 2023. Philadelphia is implied for 25.25 points and has the second-highest top stack probability on DraftKings, behind only the Dolphins.

The Eagles’ player and team props page at OddsShopper shows Hurts with a passing yard prop of 250.5 yards, with A.J. Brown at 88.5 yards, DeVonta Smith at 49.5 yards and Dallas Goedert at 40.5 yards. Brown leads all Philadelphia options with an 11.3% boom probability on DraftKings and an 11.5% boom probability on FanDuel for Week 8.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are another team we’ll have to consider when building NFL DFS lineups for Week 8. At time of writing, Dallas has the highest overall rating on FanDuel and is grading out as one of the better value stacks of the week on both sites, with an 8.2% top value probability on FanDuel and a 6.5% top value probability on DraftKings.

If we look at the boom and bust probability tool, we can find out who NFL DFS projections are favoring most at a player level for the matchup with the Rams. Filtering to DraftKings, Jake Ferguson (10.9%), Tony Pollard (9.6%), CeeDee Lamb (8.6%) and Dak Prescott (8.0%) are in the top four spots. The names stay the same on FanDuel, but the order shifts a little; it’s Pollard (13.3%) and then Lamb (8.9%), Ferguson (8.3%) and Prescott (7.3%).

Be mindful that the data could change as more news is released and we get closer to kickoff. As usual, Stokastic will be tracking all slate-relevant injury updates and will be tweaking NFL player projections all the way up until lock on DraftKings and FanDuel.

DFS players should be vigilant about watching for player news after initial lock, in case there are better values to late swap into before the afternoon games kick off.

We should also remember that accurate player projections are just one piece of the NFL DFS puzzle and that other factors like projected ownership, roster construction and game theory should be considered when building lineups.
