NFL DFS Picks | Week 6 DraftKings & FanDuel Wide Receiver Projections

Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams

Cooper Kupp looked pretty darn good in his 2023 debut, playing 95% of the team’s snaps and recording a team-high 118 receiving yards on eight receptions (12 targets). The Rams’ number one receiver was his typically effective self and immediately became Matthew Stafford’s preferred target once again. More importantly, Kupp got through the game without any kind of injury setback.

Ahead of Week 6 versus Arizona, Kupp is in the fourth spot in DraftKings boom probability and number one on FanDuel, barely topping Tyreek Hill. The Rams are implied for 28 points this Sunday on their home turf, and when we look at OddsShopper’s Cooper Kupp player props page, we see his anytime touchdown prop listed at -135 odds and his receiving yardage prop at 88.5 yards. Kupp is expected to carry high DFS ownership on both sites, even at his expensive prices of $9,000 on DraftKings and $8,700 on FanDuel.

Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals

After showing his frustration following Week 4’s loss, Ja’Marr Chase got exactly the result he wanted in Week 5. He was peppered with targets from Joe Burrow from the get-go and finished with 15 receptions (on 19 targets) for 192 yards and three touchdowns in the road win over Arizona. He single-handily carried a lot of NFL DFS lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel this past weekend and showcased that massive ceiling we’ve seen out of him in the past.

For Week 6’s meeting with the Seahawks in Cincinnati, Chase is again atop the wide receiver pool in boom probability on DraftKings, just ahead of the likes of the aforementioned Kupp, Hill, Christian Kirk, and Davante Adams. If we shift over to FanDuel, the Bengals star slides a bit further down the list yet is still north of a 12.5% boom percentage. Currently, ownership projections for NFL Week 6 show Chase at 20.6% on DraftKings and 16.9% on FanDuel, and DFS gamers will have to factor that into their decision-making process for NFL DFS tournament play.

Vikings Wide Receiver Value

It would be prudent to mention Justin Jefferson’s injury and how his absence opens up a significant amount of potential production for the rest of the group, starting Sunday against the Bears. We know T.J. Hockenson will likely get his, but what about at wide receiver? At time of writing, NFL player projections for Week 6 are most favoring Jordan Addison fresh off a team-leading six catches for 64 yards and a score in Week 5’s defeat to the Chiefs, as he’s approaching 10% in boom probability on DraftKings at a price of $5,700.

K.J. Osborn is expected to take on a larger piece of the pie and was already logging a ton of snaps (91%), while Brandon Powell figures to see a notable jump in playing time with Jefferson now on the shelf.

Here’s how the data is looking for the trio:

Addison: 9.3% boom probability on DK ($5,700) / 4.6% boom probability on FD ($6,700)
Osborn: 4.4% boom probability on DK ($4,400) / 0.9% boom probability on FD ($6,200)
Powell: 0.6% boom probability on DK ($3,000) / <0.1% boom probability on FD ($5,100)

NFL DFS Fades | Week 6 DraftKings & FanDuel Wide Receiver Projections

Tutu Atwell, Los Angeles Rams

For the second straight week, Tutu Atwell is near the bottom in wide receiver NFL DFS value as far as point-per-dollar projections go. Last week saw the return of Kupp, and he instantly reclaimed his throne as the first-choice target in the passing offense, alongside rookie Puka Nacua. Atwell did score a touchdown but finished with only two receptions for nine yards in the Rams’ loss to the Eagles.

While the snap share was encouraging in Week 5, as long as Kupp and Nacua are healthy, they are going to command an overwhelming share of the available looks. At $5,100 on DraftKings for Week 6, Atwell currently has a 0.7% boom probability and 61.3% bust probability — at $5,500 on FanDuel he’s at a 0.9% boom probability and 49.0% bust probability for the matchup with the Cardinals.

As usual, it will be critical to monitor the news throughout the week to see if better daily fantasy football values open up before lock.

We should also remember that accurate player projections are just one piece of the NFL DFS puzzle and that other factors like projected ownership, roster construction and game theory should be considered when building lineups.
