Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs – $36

Tonight there is another decision to make regarding belief in Patrick Mahomes, who will be playing on prime time for the seventh time this season. Mahomes did not need to do much last game, as the Kansas City defense had an early touchdown and three running backs combined for four touchdowns. Mahomes did have two touchdowns, and he completed 20 of 24 passes for 258 yards. He has nine touchdowns passing over his last seven games, though seven have come in two games against Las Vegas. Joe Burrow (300) and Baker Mayfield (305) are the only opposing quarterbacks to reach the 300-yard milestone against the Chargers this season. Los Angeles has allowed one or fewer touchdowns passing in half of their games.

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers – $38

In a surprise twist, Justin Herbert has a higher salary than his counterpart tonight. This is appropriate, as Herbert has tallied multiple touchdowns in eight of his last 10 games. In four of his last five outings, he has surpassed 300 yards passing while also averaging 33.6 yards rushing. The Kansas City defense has improved dramatically over the middle portion of the season, though Los Angeles is well positioned to succeed with a host of playmakers. A Charger has tallied multiple touchdowns in a game six different times this season.

Herbert is one of the leading options for SUPERSTAR on Yahoo, and Matt Savoca has an even more in-depth look at his outlook tonight from a holistic view across DraftKings and FanDuel in his Week 15 Thursday Night Football Showdown Breakdown.

Yahoo NFL Core Picks

Darrel Williams, Kansas City Chiefs – $15

It is hard to go wrong with any of the Kansas City or Los Angeles skill players in the $19-and-above range, though it is hard to decipher which is “the best” as well. Instead, the Core Picks section will find a few contrarian options who are going under the radar while still being potential top-five fantasy producers in tonight’s matchup. Clyde Edwards-Helaire ($19) has been getting half the snaps since his return, and he also has seen more opportunities. However, his production has been buoyed three touchdowns in these three games, including two last week. Coach Andy Reid trusts his veterans, and it would only take one Edwards-Helaire miscue for Darrel Williams to easily overtake him for the majority of the backfield touches.

Kansas City Chiefs D/ST – $15

This is a longshot play, but in the large-field tournaments on Yahoo, not many gamers will be looking to the Kansas City D/ST due to their reputation as a porous unit. It needs to be noted that they are much improved, and in their last three games they have 10 sacks, six fumble recoveries and five interceptions. They also have return touchdowns in their last two games, though by no means  are those predictable for any unit. Herbert has been sacked multiple times in all but two games this season, including nine in his last three starts.

Byron Pringle and Mecole Hardman, Kansas City Chiefs – $10

This duo has been battling all season to see who could become the third receiving option behind Tyreek Hill ($29) and Travis Kelce ($31). Over the last four games, Byron Pringle has played on 46, 40, 41 and 40 snaps, while Mecole Hardman has dipped to 24, 12, nine and 23. During this stretch Pringle has a slight edge in targets with 12 compared to nine for Hardman. Each is a reasonable option, though there is not enough volume to use both on the same roster.
