Week 13 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups: Alexander Mattison & Jamaal Williams

Four teams will be on a bye in Week 13, which could leave some fantasy managers scrambling for replacements. The good news is, there are several appealing options to target who are still available in the majority of leagues. You can also use our Waiver Wire Pickups tool to help find viable options and determine how much of your FAAB you might need to use for each player.

Fantasy Football: Week 13 NFL Waiver Wire Pickups

Alexander Mattison, Minnesota Vikings (66% available)

One of the biggest injuries to come out of Week 12 was Dalvin Cook going down for the Vikings. He was carted off the field with an injury against the 49ers and reportedly suffered a dislocated shoulder. Early indications are that he could miss multiple games, which would leave Mattison with a leading role. In two previous games that Cook missed this season, Mattison combined for 225 yards rushing, 99 receiving and a touchdown receiving. Adding him could be a league-winning move if Cook misses the rest of the season.

Week 13 Waiver Wire Priority: 1 (All of remaining FAAB budget)

Jamaal Williams, Detroit Lions (54% available)

D’Andre Swift suffered a shoulder sprain against the Bears on Thursday, forcing him to make an early exit. Williams stepped up in his place, turning 15 carries into 64 yards. He also caught all five of his targets for an additional 18 yards. While the Lions offense is not great, if Swift were to miss any time, Williams’ ability to contribute in both facets of the offense leaves him with loads of potential in a leading role.

Week 13 Waiver Wire Priority: 2 (10%-15% of FAAB budget)

Dontrell Hilliard, Tennessee Titans (72% available)

The Adrian Peterson experiment did not last long for the Titans. He did not look to have much left in the tank, so the team decided to move on from him and get Hilliard more involved in Week 12. He finished with 12 carries in a lopsided loss to the Patriots, but he made them count, posting 131 yards and a touchdown. There are two downsides with adding him, though. First, he has to cede some carries to D’Onta Foreman. Second, or those who need immediate help, Hilliard will not provide it given that the Titans are on a bye in Week 13. Still, adding him could turn out to be a wise move if there is an extra spot on your bench to leave him for a week.

Week 13 Waiver Wire Priority: 3 (7%-10% of FAAB budget)

D’Onta Foreman, Tennessee Titans (59% available)

Foreman actually had more carries than Hilliard against the Patriots, rushing 19 times for 109 yards. This is a complicated backfield, and it could get even murkier if Jeremy McNichols (concussion) is able to use the bye to make a return in Week 14. However, Foreman has received double-digit carries in two of the last three games, so he is still likely to carry a significant role until Derrick Henry (foot) is able to return.

Week 13 Waiver Wire Priority: 4 (7%-10% of FAAB budget)

Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers (67% available)

Last week this column advocated for adding Mattison in case Cook were to suffer an injury. This week, Hubbard is in that same category. Christian McCaffrey left Sunday’s game against the Dolphins with an ankle injury, but X-rays have already come back negative. The Panthers are on a bye in Week 13, so the added time off might help him to not miss a game. However, if he were to miss any time or suffer another injury, Hubbard could be a very valuable fantasy option. During a five-game stretch that McCaffrey missed earlier this season, Hubbard produced 329 yards rushing, two touchdowns and 88 yards receiving on 13 receptions.

Week 13 Waiver Wire Priority: 5 (5%-8% of FAAB budget)

Van Jefferson, Los Angeles Rams (57% available)

The Rams lost yet again in Week 12, this time falling to the Packers. Their offense did not play that poorly, though, despite not having Robert Woods (knee). Odell Beckham Jr. helped fill in for him, but Jefferson also stepped up his production, catching three passes for 93 yards and a touchdown. He has received at least seven targets in four of the last five games and could thrive in Week 13 against a Jaguars team that has allowed an average of 25.7 points per game.

Week 13 Waiver Wire Priority: 6 (1%-3% of FAAB budget)

Josh Reynolds, Detroit Lions (99% available)

Reynolds had a difficult time finding his way onto the field for the Titans earlier this season, but that should not be an issue with the Lions. They are lacking viable options at wide receiver, making him one of their top options already. He is also familiar with Jared Goff since the two played together with the Rams. Their previous relationship may have helped him in Week 12 when he caught three of five targets for 70 yards and a touchdown. The Lions’ limited offense caps his upside, but he could receive enough targets to be a viable WR3 options in fantasy.

Week 13 Waiver Wire Priority: 7 (1% of FAAB budget)

Russell Gage, Atlanta Falcons (81% available)

For the third straight game, Matt Ryan threw for fewer than 200 yards. That makes it tough to feel good about any of their wide receivers. However, with Calvin Ridley (personal) out, Gage has become one of their better options. Despite Ryan’s struggles, Gage has caught 11 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown over the last two games. Dating back even further, he has recorded at least 62 yards receiving in three of his last six games. The Falcons might be forced to throw a lot against the high-scoring Buccaneers in Week 13, so Gage could be busy.

Week 13 Waiver Wire Priority: 8 (1% of FAAB budget)
