Top Week 7 NFL DFS Stacks: Tampa Bay trending among leaders (October 22)

There was lots going on in the leadup to Week 7 with two trades occurring this week and both involving the Panthers, who just so happen to now sit as the biggest underdogs at +13.0 in a home matchup with Tampa Bay. We do not have the Bills on the main slate this week so there will be a new team atop the projections in the Stokastic Top Stack Tool as the Bills have dominated that top billing every week they’ve played on the Sunday AM or afternoon starting time. The Buccaneers are the biggest favorites at -13.0 but it’s the Dallas Cowboys who will be getting Dak Prescott back this week, who have the largest implied team total at 28.0. They’re taking on the Lions, who will be healthier themselves and expect to get Amon Ra St. Brown and potentially D’Andre Swift back. Let’s dive into our best NFL DFS Stacks.

This article will use the Stokastic Top Stacks Tool to gain leverage on the field, either through ownership or by rostering the other side of the game on a popular stack. Here are some of the top opportunities for Week 6 below based on where they stand in Stokastic’s NFL DFS ownership projections.

Top Stack: Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals were out lower-owned play for Week 6 in this article and they paid big time for those who chose to buy the dip on Ja’Marr Chase, and use him against what we now know is a pretty putrid Saints secondary. There’s more good news for Chase heading into Week 7, as well, as the Atlanta secondary — which already gives up 7.0 yards per pass attempt and has allowed the third most fantasy points to opposing WRs — is seriously banged up heading into this game. AJ Terrell and Isaiah Oliver (who were both limited in practice this week) will be there only two healthy cornerbacks with Casey Hayward and Dee Alford out for this game (Hayward is on IR).

The Bengals are already projecting as a top three stack this week on Stokastic but this news should really have us high on potential double stacks with Joe Burrow, especially now that Tee Higgins is another full week removed from a hamstring injury that caused him to put up a goose egg in Week 5. Higgins caught six passes last week and had no injury designation for this game so it’s likely all systems go for him.

Burrow himself has been far better after a turnover prone start. He’s got a 10 to 1 TD to INT ratio over his last five games and has thrown for over 8.0 yards per attempt in two of his last three games as well. The only issue with this game is who to use potentially use on the other side. Kyle Pitts has been stuck playing less than 80% of the snaps in a low volume passing offense, but Atlanta could regress to the mean somewhat in terms of passing in this game. If the Bengals jump out in front early, Pitts — who is just $4,300 on DraftKings — will be matched up against a Bengals team who allowed the fourth most yards and fifth most receptions to opposing TEs last year. Expect Atlanta to potentially approach their season highs for pass attempts in this game for simple fact the Bengals own offense looks like it will be hanging points all day on a beat up Falcons secondary.

Top Low-Owned Stack: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

In theory the Buccaneers will carry a decent chunk of ownership in Week 7but they’ll also likely be a tier below the levels of the Chargers, Ravens or Bengals in that regard. Any ownership discount we can get on the Buccaneers this week seems significant as they’re taking on the Panthers, a team the Bucs scored 73 points against in two meetings last season. To say Carolina has regressed since then would be an understatement and this should very much be a get right spot for Tom Brady and the passing offense in general after failing to assert dominance over a terrible Steelers secondary in Week 6.

For NFL DFS stacks, the Buccaneers are still one of the heaviest passing teams in the league, attempting 41.2 passes per game thus far. Their targets are also very concentrated with three players doing most of the work. Chris Godwin leads the team with 28 targets over the last three weeks and that’s where you need to start when deciding who to pair with Brady. Godwin could have had a monster week against Pittsburgh if he had just grabbed a few more yards to get to 100+ and grabbed one of his end zone targets for a TD. He’s still available at cheaper prices than we’re used to seeing him at for this week and faces a Carolina Panthers squad who isn’t used to getting thrown on much (because they are always behind) and gave up four or more passes to four different receivers last week.

Godwin won’t be uber chalk in this spot but he’ll still bring up the total ownership of your lineup a significant amount. Luckily, none of the other Tampa Bay receivers are very heavily owned. Mike Evans is trending under 8% owned on Stokastic and has scored four TDs in his last four games against CAR. Leonard Fournette will also carry ownership but sits second on the team in targets (ahead of Evans) over the last three weeks. We could go deeper on Tampa but with the big three dominating target share by a wide margin, there’s no need. Bringing it back with DJ Moore of the Panthers is fine too. Christian McCaffrey’s departure via trade will open up seven or more targets a game and Moore is too good not to post at least one big game this season.

Tournament Leverage Stack: Kansas City Chiefs

The focus on the 49ers – Chiefs game will undoubtedly surround the San Francisco offense and how they’ll go about incorporating Christian McCaffrey in his first game. McCaffrey’s presence also muddies the waters for fantasy purposes, though, and could even contribute to people to avoiding this game altogether. You also have the 49ers DST trending with a decent chunk of ownership as they’re only $2,700 on DraftKings and at home this week with a new running back capable of salting away games for them. Let’s look at some more intriguing NFL DFS stacks.

Patrick Mahomes is playable against anyone and the Chiefs are still trending strongly in the Stokastic Top Stacks Tool with the sixth highest projection of the week. Mahomes himself is trending with far less than 5% ownership as well. Stacking him hasn’t been as easy in 2022 as it has in past years but there’s real opportunity to get an extreme low-owned Mahomes – Marquez Valdes Scantling duo into lineups for cheap. One week after being the Chiefs leading receiver Valdes-Scantling went for 0.0 fantasy points against the Bills but had a long TD pass called back for a penalty that had nothing to do with the play.

In reality, using any Chiefs combo gives us leverage off the 49ers DST, which could be seen as a sharp play in higher buy-in GPPs, and also gives us reason to use a lower-owned, high ceiling player on the 49ers like Deebo Samuel, as a comeback play. With the model still liking KC, there’s good strategy involved in getting to some Kansas City stacks for Week 7. Good luck with your NFL DFS stacks this week.
