Yahoo NFL DFS Picks: Rankings & Values NFL Conference Championship Lineups

Awesemo has a ton of great tools and NFL DFS rankings to tackle all the largest contests in DFS. This article will go through and highlight some of the week’s highest-projected Yahoo NFL picks at each position for the NFL Conference Championship round for this Sunday. It will also provide insight into rostership projections and provide some other matchup information for optimal Yahoo NFL picks for daily fantasy lineups each week.

Top Graded QB: Patrick Mahomes $40 | Grades: A, Values: C

As we’ve alluded to all week, the Chiefs have the biggest implied team total on the slate at over 30.0 points and Patrick Mahomes has remained atop the point projections on the Awesemo Model since release. Mahomes doesn’t just rank out on top for Conference Championship week, but he’s got a healthy 5-plus point lead over the three laggers. There’s four running backs in play under $25 in salary and Mahomes’ top receiver is also available at under $30 on Yahoo. Fitting in Mahomes shouldn’t be that hard and he’s well deserving of top billing this week.

Top Value QB: Jimmy Garoppolo $22 | Grades: C, Values: B

The price structure on Yahoo is again something we need to consider when discussing our best value. Jimmy Garoppolo may be coming off two slow playoff games and has the entire fantasy world hating right now, but he’s available today at $14 less than the next most expensive player at his position. Garoppolo is playing a funnel to the pass defense in the Rams and he surprisingly completed 75% of his passes against the Rams, combined, in those two games. He rates out with the lowest points projection, but the gap isn’t huge. He’s got the best value score in the projections for Conference Championship week.

Top Graded RB: Cam Akers $21 | Grades: B, Values: B

Running back feels like it will be a position where we just want to ensure a good floor. Outside of a monster upset by the Bengals and Joe Mixon having a big game, the upside with the remaining running backs doesn’t feel that high this week. As such, we should hyper value the workload that one Cam Akers is currently getting, even if his level of play isn’t very inspiring. Akers only produced 68 yards last week on 27-touches but the opportunity for touchdowns and ppr points is perhaps the best with Akers, who still managed to top the Awesemo point projections this week, despite the poor game last week. He’s easy to fit in and a player not worth fading at this price.

Top Value RB: Jerick McKinnon $18 | Grades: C, Values: B

One strategy to think about deploying in GPPs is to roster both Chiefs running backs. There’s enough point potential with the Chiefs that both Jerick McKinnon and Clyde Edwards-Helaire could show up with big games in this spot against a Bengals defense that has given up well over 5.2 yards per carry over their last three games. McKinnon has the better upside though and ran routes on over 70% of the snaps for the Chiefs last week. His performance as a receiver gives him the edge over Edwards-Helaire in the upside department and makes him the top value under $20 at his position this week.

Top Graded WR: Cooper Kupp $40 | Grades: A, Values: D

The price on Cooper Kupp has him as the only wide receiver on the slate in the $40-range this week but he’s also only $1 more expensive than the 49ers Deebo Samuel, who comes in at $39. Samuel may actually be the more valuable real life player just based on his dual usage, but Kupp is hands down the better fantasy producer. Kupp’s got a 3.5+ point lead over Samuel in the Awesemo Projections this week and, with all of the value available at running back, he really isn’t all that hard to fit in.

Top Value WR: Tyler Boyd $18 | Grades: C, Values: B

As far as pure point projections go Tyler Boyd has the lowest outlook of any of the Bengals big three wide receivers. However, the gap in price is also something to consider as Boyd is a full $6 cheaper than Tee Higgins. Despite the price difference, the gap in projections isn’t nearly as pronounced and Boyd has proven he can grab enough points too pay off his lower price-points, even with Ja’Marr Chase and Higgins taking most of the deep looks. Boyd isn’t likely to be very popular in big GPPs, but he rates out with the best value score of any wide-out under $20 this week and makes for a great filler.

Top Graded TE: Travis Kelce $32 | Grades: A, Values: E

We have spoken about the matchup for Travis Kelce at length this week already in previous articles. The Bengals are a bottom-five defense in terms of guarding against tight ends and will have their hands full with Kelce this week, who tops the point projections on Awesemo by over 1.0 point. The difference between George Kittle and Kelce is also likely to create a more balanced ownership at the position, with Kelce actually coming in as the lessor owned target right now in the Awesemo rostership projections. He’s the preferred pay-up option at tight end.

Top Value TE: Tyler Higbee $19 | Grades: B, Values: D

On a two game slate there’s not any point in talking about anyone outside of the main four tight ends. Both Tyler Higbee and C.J. Uzomah are available at under $20 this week but it’s Higbee who has the clear advantage in the projections with an outlook that his him well above Uzomah in pure points for the week. Higbee’s upside is sneakily better than people realize, and with Van Jefferson (questionable) banged up, he could end up taking a bigger role this week out of necessity. Higbee’s the best sub-$20 option at tight end and a good flex option in big fields where most lineups won’t be deploying two tight ends.
